Throttle Control The thr ottle contr ol is locate d on the rear of th e engin e. It regulates th e spee d of the engin e and will shut o ff th e engine wh en moved into the STOP pos ition. Chute Direc tional Con tr ol The chute di rec tional contro l is located o n the lef t side o f the dash pan el. T o change the d irec tion in which s now is thrown, squ eeze the but ton on the j oy-sti ck and pivot the joy -stick to the right or to th e lef t.
Starting The Engine Atta ch spark plu g wire to spark p lug. Make cer tain th e meta l loop on th e end of the sp ark plug wi re (inside the rubb er boot) is f astened s ecurel y over the metal ti p on the spark p lug. Make cer tain b oth the auger contro l and drive contro l are in the dise ngaged (rele ased) posi tion.

Sha ve Plate an d Skid Shoes The shave plate an d skid sh oes on the b ottom o f the snow thrower are su bjec t to wear . They s hould be ch ecked pe riodic ally and rep laced when n ecessar y.
Auger Sh af t At least on ce a season, rem ove the shear pins f rom the auge r shaf t. Sp ray lubrica nt inside the shaf t and a round the sp acers and the f lang e bearings f ound at eithe r end of the sha ft .
Drive Control When th e drive control is re leased an d in the disen gaged “up” positi on, the cab le shoul d have v e ry li ttle s lack. It s hould NOT be tight.
Belt Replacement Auger Belt T o remove and re place your snow throwe r’s auger be lt, proce ed as foll ows: T o prevent spil lage, place a pi ece of plast ic wrap und er the gas cap an d tighten secu rely . Remove the p lastic b elt cover on the fro nt of the engin e by removin g the two s elf-ta pping scr ews.
Remove the b elt fro m around the au ger pull ey , and slip th e bel t bet ween the sup por t bracket a nd the auger p ulley . See Fig . 7 -5. Reassem ble auge r belt by fo llowing ins truc tions in revers e orde r .
Slip the dr ive belt of f the p ulley and b etwe en fric tion whee l and fri ctio n wheel dis c. Se e Fig. 7 - 7 . Remove and re place be lt in the revers e order.
Caref ully remove the h ex nut which s ecures the h ex shaf t to the snow thrower f rame and l ightly tap the s haf t ’ s end to dislod ge the ball b earing f rom the right si de of the fram e. See Fig. 7-9. NOTE: B e caref ul not to damage the t hreads on the sh aft .
