11 T o Engage Drive 1 . With t he engine r unning near to p speed, move shif t lever to one of six FORW ARD pos itions or t wo REVERSE posit ions. Sele ct a spe ed appro priate for the snow c ondit ions that exist . 2. Squeeze drive co ntrol against t he right h andle and the snow t hrower will move .
12 Shift Cable If the full r ange of sp eeds ( forward an d reverse) cann ot be achi ev ed, refer to the fi gure to the lef t and adj ust the shif t cab le as follows : 1 . Place the s hift l eve r in th e fastes t forward s peed posit ion. 2. Loosen t he hex nut on the sh ift c able in dex bracket.
13 5 Y ou can al so chec k the adjus tment as follows : 1 . With t he snow thrower tip ped for ward (b e cer tain to drain ga soline or pl ace plast ic film un der the ga s cap if the snow t hrower has already been o perated ), remove the frame c over underneath th e snow thrower by removing th e self-tap ping screws.
14 6 Maintaining Y our Snow Thr ower W ARNING Before lubr icating, repairing, or in spect- ing, disengage al l controls and st op engine. W ait until all mo ving parts have come to a complete stop. A void oi l spillage on rubber friction w heel and alum inum driv e plat e.
15 6 Maintaining Y our Snow Thr ower A uger Belt Replacement T o remove and replac e your snow thrower’s a uger b elt, proce ed as follows : 1 . Remove the plast ic belt c over on the front of the engine by rem oving the t wo self-tap ping screws.
16 A ugers • The auger s are secured to th e spiral sh aft wit h two shear pins a nd cot ter pins. If the aug er should st rike a foreign ob ject or i ce jam, the s now thrower is desig ned so that the p ins may shear . R efer to Figure 9. • If the aug ers will not tur n, check to s ee if the pin s hav e sheared.
17 Friction Wheel Remov al If the snow t hrower fails to drive with t he drive contro l engage d, and per forming t he drive cont rol cabl e adjust- ment on page 1 4 fails to c orrect t he proble m, the fric tion wheel may need to b e replace d. Follow the instr ucti ons below.
