5 A separate electrical circuit should be used for your machines. This cir cuit should not be less than #12 wire and should be protected with a 20 Amp time lag fuse. If an extension cor d is used, use only 3-wire extension cor ds which have 3- prong gr ounding type plugs and matching receptacle which will accept the machine’ s plug.
6 Use proper extension cor ds. Make sure your extension cor d is in good condition and is a 3-wir e extension cord which has a 3-pr ong grounding type plug and matching r eceptacle which will accept the machine’ s plug. When using an extension cord, be sur e to use one heavy enough to carry the current of the machine.
7 UNP ACKING AND CLEANING Carefully unpack the machine and all loose items fr om the shipping container(s). Remove the protective coating fr om all unpainted surfaces. This coating may be removed with a soft cloth moistened with kerosene (do not use acetone, gasoline or lacquer thinner for this purpose).

9 ASSEMBL Y FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY , DO NOT CONNECT THE MACHINE TO THE POWER SOURCE UNTIL THE MACHINE IS COMPLETEL Y ASSEMBLED AND YOU READ AND UNDERST AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. MOTOR BRACKET TO CABINET 1. Place the cabinet on its side as shown in Fig.
10 TOP PLA TE TO CABINET NOTE: IF YOUR MACHINE IS SUPPLIED WITH AN L VC ST ARTER BOX, PLEASE REFER TO THE SUPPLEMENT AL INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR MOUNTING THE L VC BOX TO THE ST AND. THEN PROCEED AS FOLLOWS. 1. Place the top plate (A) Fig. 10, on the top of the cabinet (B).
11 BAND SAW USED WITH A DUST COLLECTOR 3. If you are going to use your band saw with a dust collector , attach the dust port as follows: A. Align the four holes in the dust port (A) Fig. 15, with the four holes in the side of the stand. B. NOTE: THE DUST CHUTE WILL ONL Y BE A TT ACHED A T THE TWO BOTTOM HOLES (C) IN THE DUST PORT .
12 5. Align the two holes in the hinge (C) Fig. 19, with the two holes in the cabinet door (D). MAKE SURE THA T THE HINGE OPENING IS POINTING DOWN. 6. Insert #10-24x1/2" socket head cap screws thr ough the holes in the door , and thread the scr ews into the holes in the hinge.
SA W TO ST AND THE BAND SAW IS VER Y HEA VY . USE A HELPER WHEN A TT ACHING THE SAW TO THE CABINET . 1. Place the band saw on top of the cabinet as shown in Fig. 23. NOTE: MAKE SURE THE PULLEY (A) FIG. 23, IS ON THE SIDE OF THE CABINET WITH THE BEL T OPENING (B).
14 T ABLE TO SAW 1. Align the two table studs (A) Fig. 27, on the bottom of the table, with the two holes in the trunnion assemblies (B). Place table on trunnion assemblies. NOTE: MAKE SURE THE SLOT (C) FIG. 27, IN THE T ABLE IS F ACING AW A Y FROM THE ARM (D).
15 BLADE TO SA W THE 14" BAND SAW USES 93½" LENGTH BLADES. 1. Remove the table pin (A) Fig. 31 from the table. 2. Open the two wheel guard doors (B) Fig. 31, and the blade guard door (C). 3. Make sure the quick tension lever (D) Fig. 31, is positioned to the right of the machine as shown.

18 ADJUSTING THE T ABLE STOPS 2. Loosen the table clamp handles (A) Fig. 43, and tilt the table to the right. 3. Rotate the stop (B) Fig. 45 out of the way . 4. Place a square (G) Fig. 46, on the table and set blade square to table. 5. Tighten table clamp handles (A) Fig.
19 ADJUSTING BLADE TENSION The band saw is equipped with a quick tensioning blade mechanism. T o apply tension, move the tension handle (A) to the left as shown. T o release tension, move the tension lever lock (B) Fig. 49 up, and move the tension handle (A) to the right as shown in Fig.
20 TRACKING THE BLADE DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER SOURCE. BEFORE TRACKING THE BLADE, MAKE SURE THA T THE BLADE GUIDES AND BLADE SUPPORT BEARINGS ARE CLEAR OF THE BLADE. After applying tension to the blade, rotate the upper wheel slowly forward by hand and observe the blade’ s movement.
21 Fig. 55 5. T wo set screws (B) Fig. 55 hold the upper blade guides (A) in place. Loosen the set screws (B) to move the guides (A). Place them as close as possible to the side of the blade. (Be careful not to pinch the blade). Tighten the screws (B).
22 OPERA TIONS Before starting the machine, insur e that all adjustments are pr operly made and the guar ds are in place. T ur n the upper wheel by hand to make sure that everything is corr ect BEFORE turning on the power . Keep the top blade guide assembly within 1/8" of the work piece at all times.
23 CUTTING CURVES When cutting curves, turn the stock carefully so that the blade follows without twisting. If a curve is so abrupt that it is necessary to repeatedly back up and cut a new kerf, a narr ower blade, a blade with more set, or additional r elief cuts Fig.

25 BAND SA W BLADES A band saw blade is a delicate piece of steel that is subjected to tremendous strain. Y ou can obtain long use fr om a band saw blade if you use it properly . Be sure you use blades of the pr oper thickness, width, and temper for the various types of material and cuts.
