T ransmitter Buttons Button I The arm/disar m and P anic Functions, are usually controlled b y Button I. Button II The Silent Mode/trunk release function, is usually controlled by Button II. (Silent Mode and Remote V alet work b y pressing Button II f or less than one second.
Using Y our S ystem Arming Y ou can tur n on, or arm , the system b y pressing Button I of your trans- mitter f or one second. When the system ar ms , you will hear a short siren sound, or chirp , and see the parking lights flash once. If the vehi- cle’ s power door loc ks are controlled b y the system, the doors will loc k.
• T ur ning on the ignition ke y will tr ip the same two-stage response as opening a door . • The optional star ter kill prev ents the vehicle’ s star ter from cranking. Armed While Driving Y our system can be ar med while driving the vehicle! Simply press Button I on your tr ansmitter while the vehicle is running.
T o disar m with the transmitter during a trigger , press Button I on your transmitter . The siren will stop sounding. Ne xt press Button I once more and the system will chir p f our or five times (repor ting the trigger) and disarm.
Valet ® Mode Y ou can prev ent y our system from automatically ar ming and triggering by using V alet Mode. This is ver y useful when washing the v ehicle or having it serviced. In V alet Mode, the system will not arm, ev en with the transmitter , but all conv enience functions (door locks, trunk release, etc.
Diagnostics The microprocessor at the hear t of your system is constantly monitor- ing all of the s witches and sensors connected to it. It detects any f aulty s witches and sensors and pre vents them from disab ling the entire sys- tem. The microprocessor will also record and repor t an y triggers that occurred during your absence.
Disarming Diagnostics Extra disarm chir ps are the T amper Aler t. If four chirps are heard when disar ming, the system was triggered in your absence. If fiv e chir ps are heard, a zone w as triggered so many times that Nuisance Pre v ention Circuitr y has b ypassed that zone .
C ode-Hopping ™ Explained The receiver and tr ansmitters each use a mathematical f ormula called an algorithm to change their code each time the transmitter is used. This technology has been de v eloped to increase the security of the unit. The control unit knows what the ne xt codes should be.
• P anic mode enabled /disabled with the ignition on. (Some states hav e laws against siren capability in a moving v ehicle). • A utomatic Engine Disable (AED) on or off . This f eature deters theft of the vehicle , whether or not the alar m is ar med.
