6 BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE RATING PLATE This is situated on the lowe r front frame of the appliance and can be seen upon op ening the door. Alternatively the rating plate may also be found on the back or top of some models (whe re ap plicable). The appliance must be protected by a suitably rate d fuse or circuit bre aker.

8 TO CANCEL THE COUNTDOWN If you change your mind and want to can cel the 'Countdown', pre ss the Selector Cont rol button until the 'Countdown' indicato r neon ( ) flashe s and then the decrease control ( - ) until 0.00 shows in th e display as Fig.

10 THE HOB Do not use the applia nce if the ceramic glass is damaged. If a fault or crack becomes visible, disconnect the appliance immediately from the electricity supply and contact your local Service Force Centre. USING THE HOB • For single hotplates, turn the control knob clockwise to vary the heat setting.
11 NOTE: Occasionally the heated ar eas may be seen to switch ON and OFF when higher he at settings are being used. This is due to a sa fety device which prevents the glass from overheating. Some switching ON and OFF when cooking at high temperatures, e.
12 THE GRILL CAUTION – Acces sible parts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children should be kept away. USING THE GRILL The grill on this appliance has been design ed to heat up more quickly than con ventional grill element s. It provides quick, di rect heat and no preh eating is necessary.
13 HINTS AND TIPS • Most foods should be placed on the grid in the grill pan to allow maximum ci rculation of air to lift the food out of the fats and juices. • Adjust the grid and grill pan runner position to allow for different thickn esses of food.
14 THE SECOND OVEN The second oven is the smaller of the two ovens. It is heated by elements in t he top and bottom of the oven. It is designed for cooking small er quantities of food. It gives especially good results if used to cook fruit cakes, sweets and savoury flans o r quiche.
15 HINTS AND TIPS • Arrange the shelve s in the required position s before switching the oven ON. Shelf positio ns are counted from the bottom upwards. • There should always be at least 2.5cm (1”) between the top of the food and the element. This gives best cooking results and allo ws room for rise in yeast mixture s, Yorkshire puddings etc.

17 MAIN OVEN GRILL CAUTION – Acces sible parts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children should be kept away. USING MAIN OVEN GRILL • Turn the main oven multifunction sele ctor to grill. • Turn the main oven temperature control to the required setting.
18 • Accompanim ents such as tomatoes and mushrooms may be placed around the oute r edges or underneath t he grid when grilling meats. • When toas ting bread, we s uggest that the top runner position is used with the grid in its 'high' position.
19 CONVENTIONAL COOKING This form of cooking gives you the opportunity t o cook without the fan in o peration. It is particularly suitable for dishes which require extra base browning such as pies, quich es and flans. Gratin's, lasagne and hotpots which require extra top browning also cook well in the conventional oven.
20 HINTS AND TIPS • Single level cooking give s best results. If you require more than one le vel of cooking use the main fan oven. • The middle shelf allows for the best heat distribution. To increase base browning simply lower the shelf po sition.
21 PROFI HOT AIR COOKING The fan oven is particul arly suitable for cooking larger quantities of food. The advantag es of fan oven cooking are: PREHEATING The fan oven quickly reaches its tem perature, so it is not usually necessary to preheat the oven.
22 TO FIT THE MAIN OVEN SHELVES The shelves sho uld be fitted with the straight rods uppermost on the fram e and the forms towards the back of the oven. To remove a shelf slide the shelf towards you until the shelf stop is rea ched. Tilt shelf up at the front to that the stops clear th e side supports.
23 OVEN COOKING CHART The oven temperatures are intended as a guide only. It may be necessary to incre ase or decrease the temperatures by 10°C to suit individual preferen ce s and requirements.

25 FAN ROASTING Fan Roasting in the main oven offers an altern ative method of cooking food items no rmally associated with conventional grilling. Fan Roasting helps to mini mise cooking smells in the kitchen and allows you to grill with the oven door closed.
26 HINTS AND TIPS • Prepare foods in the s ame way as for conventional grilling. Brus h lean meats and fish lightly with a little oil or butter to keep th em moist during cookin g. • Most food should be plac ed on the grill pan grid in the 'high' position in the grill pan to allow maximum circulation of air around the food.
27 PIZZA This setting can be used for foods such a s pizza where base browning and cri spness are required. USING PIZZA • Turn the main oven multifunction selector to Pizza. • Turn the main oven temperature control to the required setting. THINGS TO NOTE • The cooling fan for the controls may operate after a time.
28 BOTTOM HEAT This function uses the lo wer element to give single level cooking. This is part icularly suitable for di shes which require extra base browning such as pizzas, quiches and flans. USING BOTTOM HEAT • Turn the main oven multifunction selector to Bottom Heat.
29 DEFROST This main oven function defrost s most foods faster than more conventional methods. It is particularl y suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold e.g. cream f illed gateaux, ca kes covered with icings or frostings, cheese cakes, biscuits, scones, etc.
30 CARE AND CLEANING Before cleaning always allow the appliance to cool down before switching off at th e electricity supply. CLEANING MATERIALS Before using any clea ning materials on you r appliance, check that they are suitable and that their use is recommended by th e manufacturer.
31 CLEANING THE CERAMIC HOB Make sure the cerami c glass is cool bef ore cleaning. It is important to clean the ceramic hob daily to prevent soilage being burnt on. Take care to avoid the hob trims when cleaning the ceramic glass as the y may be da maged by the cleaning agents recom mended.
32 HINTS AND TIPS TO REDUCE HOB SOILAGE: • Make sure the bottom of the saucepan and the cooking area are cle an and dry before cooking begins. • Ensure saucepans are large enough to accommodate food to avoid boil overs. • If possible, wipe up spills and splatters as they occur, but take care to avoid steam burns.
33 CLEANING INSIDE THE GRILL AND OVEN COMPARTMENTS The sides and back of the grill/second oven and main oven compartments a r e coated wit h a special Stayclean coating. The y should not be cleaned manually. The vitreo us enamel main oven bas e and grill compartment base can be cleaned using normal oven cleaners with care.
