4 P R E P AR A T I O N F O R U S E UN PA CKING AND SET UP • This system consists of the following components: 1.) Tuner/Amp/CD Player (main unit), 2.) 2 Sound Cylinder Speakers, 3.) Powered Subwoofer unit, subwoofer connection cable, and Remote Control.
5 • The main unit is shipped with a “ dummy CD ” display card in the CD player. This “ dummy CD ” card must be removed before you can use the CD player. Refer to the “ PL AYING COM PACT DISCS ” instructions on Page 25. • The main unit has a sliding stabilizer tab on the bottom panel.
6 POWER SOURCE The main unit and subwoofer of this system are designed to operate on 120V AC 60Hz house current only. Connecting this system to any other power source may cause damage to the system and such damage is not covered by your warranty.
7 SPEAKER CONNECTIONS Sound Cylinder Speakers Connect the two Sound Cylinder speakers to the “ L ” and “ R ” speaker jacks on the back of the main unit. Make sure that the speaker plugs are fully inserted into the speaker jacks. If the plugs are loose the connection may be intermittent.
8 Subwoofer 1.) Connect one end of the black subwoofer speaker cable to the input jack on the back of the subwoofer, and connect the other end of the cable to the subwoofer output jack on the back of the main unit. 2.) Set the Subwoofer Main Power switch, located on the back of the subwoofer, to the ‘ ON ’ position.
9 POSITIONING THE SPEAKERS For the most pleasing sound effects you should place the subwoofer speaker approximately mid-way between the two Sound Cylinder speakers. The Sound Cylinder speakers can be positioned close to the main unit or as far away as the speaker cables will allow.
10 AUXILIARY SOURCE CONNECTIONS You can listen to the sound from external audio sources through the speakers of this system. Connect the Aux/Line/Audio Output Jacks of the external audio source to the Aux/Line Input Jacks on the back panel of this system.

12 INS TA LLING THE CLOCK AND TUNER MEMO RY BACK UP BATTERIES This system includes a battery back up circuit for the clock and preset tuner memories. The clock and tuner preset memory battery back up compartment is located on the back panel of the main unit.

STEREO/MONO Button – Press to switch between FM Mono and Stereo modes. 8.) MODE Button – Press to display CD remain playing time, Clock, Timer-On or Timer-Off setting.

19 O P E R A T I N G I N S T RUC T I O N S • Make sure the Subwoofer and Sound Cylinder Speakers are properly connected to the main unit. • Make sure that the Main POWER switch on the back of the Subwoofer is ‘ ON ’. • Make sure that the POWER button on the front panel of the Subwoofer is ‘ On ’ .
20 4.) Press the TUNING/SKIP-SEARCH UP or DOWN buttons on the top panel of the main unit or on the remote control to set the display to the correct minutes. 5.) Press the MEMORY/CLOCK SET button once more. The time display stops flashing and the clock begins to run.
21 LISTENING TO THE RADIO 1.) Press the PO WER/S TANDBY button on the main unit or the remote control. The main display turns on. 2.) If necessar y , press the TUNER/BAND button on the top panel of the main unit or the remote control to select the Tuner function.
22 ANTENN A INFORM ATION FM Make sure the FM lead wire antenna is unwound and extended to its full length. It may be necessary to vary the direction of this wire antenna until you find the position that provides the best reception for your favorite FM stations.
23 PRE-SETTING S TA TIONS IN THE TUNER MEMORY This system includes a 32 station preset memor y . You can store up to 20 FM stations and 12 AM stations in the tuner memory for immediate recall. The procedure for storing stations in memory is as follows: 1.
24 RECALLING PRESET S TA TIONS Turn the system ‘ On ’ and select the desired band. Press the PRESET UP/REPRE AT button on the front panel or the remote control repeatedly to scroll through the preset memories until the display shows the desired station.
25 PL AYING COMPACT DISCS Notes: A.) You must remove the ‘ dummy CD ’ display card from the CD player before loading your own CDs. B.) Do not place anything directly in front of the system that might interfere with the CD door as it is opening. 1.
26 6.) Press the PLA Y/P AUSE button on the top panel of the main unit or on the remote control to begin playback on track 1. The display will show the elapsed playing time of each track as it plays. 7.) Adjust the VOLUME and BASS BOOST controls as desired.
27 SKIP/SEARCH CONTROLS ( / ) To skip to higher or lower numbered tracks during playback repeatedly press the SKIP/SEARCH controls ( / ) on the top panel of the main unit or the remote control until the desired track number appears in the display. Playback will begin on the desired track.
28 All Tracks Repeat Load the disc as usual and wait until the total playing time and track numbers appear on the displa y . Press the PRESET UP/REPE AT button twice. The REPE AT indicator remains ‘ On ’ . Press the PL AY/PAUSE button to begin playback.
29 RANDOM PL AYBACK This feature allows you to play all the tracks on a disc in random order. Load the disc as usual and wait until the display shows the total playing time and number of tracks. Press the RANDOM button on the remote control - there is no RANDOM button on the main unit.
30 PROGRAMMED PL AYBACK This system has a 16 track programmable memor y . You can program up to 16 tracks on a disc to play back in any desired order. Note : You cannot program the player while a disc is playing. You must press the STOP button first to stop playback before beginning the programming steps below.
31 After you have programmed up to 16 tracks, press the PL AY/PAUSE button to begin programmed playback. The MEMORY indicator remains in the display and the tracks you selected will be played in the desired orde r.
32 OTHER FUNCTIONS MUTE Button To temporarily shut off the sound from the speakers press the MUTE button on the front panel or the remote control. The display will show “ VOL 0 ” for a few seconds to indicate that the Mute function is ‘ On ’ .
33 To Set The ‘ OFF ’ Time 6.) Press the MODE button on the front panel or the remote control repeatedly until the “ TIMER OFF ” indicator is flashing in the display. 7.) Press the MEMORY/CLOCK SET button on the front panel or remote control. The Hour digits begin flashing.
34 To Deactivate The Timer 1.) Press the MODE button on the front panel or the remote control repeatedly until the “ TIMER ” indicator is flashing and the “ ON ” indicator remains ‘ On ’. 2.) Press the TIMER button on the front panel. Both the “ TIMER ” and “ ON” indicators will flash togethe r.
35 MODE BUTTON Normally the display shows the correct time in the S TANDBY (Power Off) mode, the radio frequency in the TUNER mode, and the CD track and time information in the CD mode.
36 SLEEP TIMER This system includes a programmable Sleep Timer that allows you to fall asleep to between 10 and 90 minutes of music and then shuts the power ‘ Off ’ automaticall y. To operate the sleep timer: 1.) Turn the system ‘ On ’ and operate either the TUNER or CD function as usual.
