Adjusting and changing the image This section e xplains how to adjust image qual ity , v olume, and the color mode . It also e xplains ho w to change the image source and adjust the projection position.
14 Adjusting the Ima ge Quality Adjusting Computer Images and RGB Video Images Automatic setup detects analog RGB signals coming from a connected computer , and automatically adjusts these signals so that the optimum images can be obtained.
15 Adjusting the Image Quality B Adjust the tracking until th e ver tical stripes disappear fr om the ima g e . The tracking v alue increases or decreases each time a button is pressed.
16 Adjusting the Image Quality B Adjust the synchr onization until the horizontal noise disappears fr om the image . The sync v alue increases or decreases each time a button is pressed. C Press the [Menu] b utton to exit the configuration menu. Selecting the Pr ojection T ype (Color Mode) The follo wing se ven preset color modes are a v ailable.
17 Adjusting the Image Quality PROCEDURE Each time you press the button, th e color modes change in the follo wing order . The current setting appears in the t op-right corner of the screen each time the color mode is changed.
18 Adjusting the Pr ojection P osition (Ima ge Shift) When you cannot setup the projector di rectly in front of the screen, the projection position can be mov ed without moving the projector . PROCEDURE A Using the b u ttons on the projector , perf orm zoom adjustment or keystone correction.
19 Adjusting the V olume The v olume of the projector’ s built-in speak er can be adjusted as follo ws. PROCEDURE When the [ ] b utton is pressed, the volume increases. When the [ ] button is pressed, the v olume decreases. The vo lume gauge appears on the screen while the volume is being adjusted.
20 Changing the Pr ojected Image (Sour ce Sear ch) A utomatically Detect Incoming Signals and Change the Pr ojected Image (Source Sear ch) The picture signal input from the connected equipment is automatically detected and projected. PROCEDURE A P erform the Sour ce Search.

22 Functions f or Enhancing Pr ojection P ausing the Image and Sound (A/V Mute) For e xample, this can be used if you want to pause the projection for a moment and focus the audience’ s atte ntion on what you are saying. Or if you are making a computer presenta tion and you do not want to sho w details, such as selecting dif ferent files.
23 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection Changing the Aspect Ratio (Resizing) This function changes the aspect ratio g of images from 4:3 to 16:9 when component video g , S-V ideo g , or composite video g images are being projected. Images which hav e been recorded in digital video or onto D VDs can be vie wed in 16:9 wide-screen format.
24 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection B Move the pointer icon. Enlar ging P ar t of the Image (E-Zoom) This is useful when you want to see images in greater detail, such as graphs and details in a table.
25 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection B Move the cr osshair to the area of the image that is to be enlarged or reduced. C Enlarge. Y ou can reduce the enlarged image b y pressing the [-] b u tton.
26 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection Once the connection has been made, th e mouse pointer can be operated as follo ws. • The USB cable can only be connected to computers with a standard USB interface.
27 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection • If the mouse button settings are set to rev erse on the computer , the operation of the remote control b uttons will also be reversed. • The wireless mouse function cannot be used while the follo wing functions are being used.
28 Security functions Preventing theft (P assw ord Pr otect) When the Password Pro tect function is acti vated, people who do not kno w the password will not be able to use the projector to project im ages. Furthermore, the user’ s logo that is displayed on the background of the screen cannot be changed.
29 Security functions When “P ass word Timer” is se t to “ON” and “Timer” is used The password entry screen will not be displayed at all when the po wer is turned on until the length of time that has been set has elapsed.
30 Security functions C T urn “P assw ord Timer” on. If you don't use this sett ing, proceed to step 4. (1) Select “P assword T imer , ” and then press the [Enter] b utton. (2) Select “ON, ” and then press the [Enter] button. (3) Press the [Esc] b utton.
31 Security functions Operation Button Lock Function This function locks the buttons on the projector's control panel. This function is useful at times such as during sho w e vents so that only projection is carried out deacti vating all b uttons operation, or in places such as schools to limit the rang e of b uttons that can be operated.

43 Using the Help If a problem occurs with the proj ector , the Help function uses on-screen displays to assist you in solving the pr oblem. It uses a series of menus in a question and answer format. PROCEDURE A Display the Help men u. B Select a menu item.
44 Using the Help D Repeat the operations in steps 2 and 3 to proceed thr ough the menu to more detailed items. E Press the [Help] button to e xit the help menu. If the Help function does not provide a solution to the problem, refer to “Problem Solving” s p.

58 Installation Setting Up the Projector The projector supports the follo wing four dif ferent projection methods, allo wing you to choose the best method for displaying your images. * A special method of installation is required for suspending the projector from a ceiling.
59 Maintenance This section describes maintenance tasks such as cleaning the projector and replacing consumable parts. Cleaning Y ou should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of projected images starts to deteriorate. Clean the projector’ s surface by wi ping it gently with a soft cloth.
60 Maintenance Replacing Consumables This section explains ho w to replac e the remote control batteries, the lamp, and the air f ilters. If delays in the responsi veness of the remote control occur or if it does not operate after it has been used for so me time, it probably means that the batteries are becoming flat.
61 Maintenance It is time to replace the lamp when: • The message "Replace the Lam p." appears on the screen when projection star ts . • When the Lamp indicator is flashing orange • The projected image gets dar ker or star ts to deter iorate Lamp Replacement P eriod A message will be displayed.
62 Maintenance PROCEDURE A After y ou turn off the pr ojector’ s power , and the confirmation buzzer beep s twice, disconnect the power cab le . B W ait until the lamp has cooled do wn, then remove the lamp co ver from the base of the pr ojector .
63 Maintenance E Install the new lamp. Insert the ne w lamp so that it f its in place correctly . Once it is fully inserted, tighten the two scre ws. F Install the lamp cover . Slide the lamp cov er onto the projector a nd tighten the cov er scre w . • Install the lamp securely .
64 Maintenance The projector has a built-in counter which k eeps track of the lamp operating time. When the cumulati ve operating time reaches a certain point, it causes the replacement w arning message to be displayed. Therefore, the counter needs to be re set after the lamp has been replaced with a ne w one.
65 Maintenance If the air filters are brok en or if th e warning message reappears after they hav e been cleaned, th ey should be replaced. The air f ilter can be replaced e ven if the projector is installed on a ceiling. PROCEDURE A T urn off the projector’ s power .
66 Sa ving a User's Logo Y ou can record the image that is curre ntly being projected as a user's logo. PROCEDURE A Pr oject the image y ou would like to use as the user’ s logo, and then displa y the configuration menu. B Select “Extended” fr om the configuration menu, and then select “User’ s Logo.
67 Saving a User's Logo C When “Choose this imag e as the User's Logo?” appears, select “Y es. ” D The image to be recorded and a selection mar quee bo x will be displayed. Mo ve the mar quee bo x to select the par t of the image to use.

71 Glossary Squeeze mode In this mode, wide-scree n images in 16:9 mode are compr essed in the horizontal direction so that they are stored on the recording medium as 4:3 images. When these images are played back by the projector in squeeze mode, the y are restored to their original 16:9 format.
