Preface 1 Y ou have purchased the XG200 0, a compact, 20 port 10 Gigabit Ethernet layer 2 switch that achieves unsurpassed standards of high throughput and low-latency performance. This manual explains the procedu res required to install your XG2000 and should be read and understood before you start using your XG2000.

Inst allation Procedure 25 2 Before installing the XG2000, read " For Safe Use of the XG2000 (P.2 )" and comply with the installation requi rements described below. When installin g the XG2000, a ce rtain amount of installatio n space is necessary.
26 In stallation and Operation Only use the XG2000 under t he temperature, humidity an d other envi ronmental conditions specified in "A.2 Installation Specifications (P.42)". Using the XG20 00 outside the follow ing ranges can shorten the lifetime or cause the failure of the XG2000.
Inst allation Procedure 27 2 2. Fix the nuts and rails to the rack posts. First, choose nuts, cage nuts or rack nuts, by the type of hole dug in the rack post. When the rack has square post holes, cage nuts are used. When round ho les, rack nuts are used.

Inst allation Procedure 29 2 3. Fix the four rack mounting brackets to the XG2000. Each of the four rack mou nting brackets (two of front si de, two of back side) has two holes that should line up with matching holes on the sides of the XG2000, as shown in the diagram.
30 In stallation and Operation 5. This completes the rack installation procedure. The following explains how to unin stall the XG2000 from a rack. 1. Undo the rack screws that were used to fasten the XG2000 t o the rack. 2. Slide the XG2000 forward, and remove it from the rack.
Inst allation of XFP modules 31 2 The following explains how to install the XFP modu les in the XG2000. 1. Install the XPF module in the XG2000. How to install the XFP mo dule is the following, (1) Insert the XFP module with the cable conn ector facings outward.

How to uninstall the XFP module is th e following, (1) Remove the XFP module from the slot. In cases removi ng the XFP module from an odd port number, lift off the le ver horizontally.
Cable Connection 33 2 The cables need to be connected to the XG2000 XFP modules. 1. Connect the fiber optic cables to the XG2000. Connect the fiber optic cables to the XFP modul es (Port 1 - Port 20) on the front of XG2000. CAUTION An fiber optic con nector is used when connect ing two fiber opt ic cables.
34 In stallation and Operation After connecting the peripheral units, connect the XG20 00 power cords. W ARNING • Do not touch the power plu g with wet hands, as there is a risk of electri c shock. • Do not damage or remodel the power c ords, as this may cause electri c shock or fire.
Basic Operation 35 2 W ARNING • Unplug the XG200 0 during thunder-storms. Cont inued use under these c onditions risks lightning damage to the XG2000, and may cause a fire. • Insert the powe r plug completely i nto the power socket.
