Introductio n 6 309298J Intr oduction How the Electr ostatic AA Spra y Gun W orks The air-assisted spra y gun combines airless and air spra ying concepts. The spra y tip shapes the fluid into a f an patter n, as does a conv entional airless spra y tip.
Introduction 309298J 7 Changing the kV Setting The gun’ s full voltage setting is 85 kV . Three lo wer vo lt- age setting s are possible b y actuating the KV1 and KV2 s witches. Supply 50 psi ( 0.35 MP a, 3.5 bar) air pressure to the KV1 and KV2 ports.

Installation 309298J 11 Install the Air Line Accessories 1. Install a b leed-type master air v alve (L) on the main air line (W) t o shut off all air to the gun (H). 2. Install an ai r line filter/w ater separator on the gun air line to ensure a dr y , clean air supply t o the gun.

Installation 309298J 15 Gr ounding The follo wing are minimum grounding requ irements for a basic elect rostatic system. Y our system may include other equipment o r objects which must be grou nded. Check yo ur local electrical code f or de tailed grounding instructions.

Operation 309298J 19 Select a Spra y Tip The fluid outpu t and pattern width depend on the size o f the spra y tip , the fluid viscosity , and the fluid pr essure. Use the Spra y Tip Selection Char t , page 51, as a guide f or selecting the approp r iate spr a y tip for y our application.

Apply a minimum of 5 0 psi (3.5 bar , 0.35 MPa) air pressure to the cylinder air fitting (CYL) to activate the on/off sequence of atomization ai r (A2) and fluid (P1). See F IG . 12.. 2. T ur n the gun functions off and on by using the air solenoid v alves on the cyl inder (CYL) and turbine (T A) air supply lines.

Conductiv e solvents can cause the gu n to malfunction. • Do not use meth ylene chlor ide as a flushing or cleaning solvent with th is gun as it will damage nylon components.

See F IG . 18.. Fluid in these areas indicate s leakage into the shroud, which could be caused by leaks at the fluid tube connec tions or fluid pac king leakage.
