6 2 Getting Started Installing the Battery Charging the Battery T o charge the battery , do as follows: 1. Connect th e travel ch arger to the ch arger interf ace at the to p of your phone. 2. Connect th e charger to an AC power socket. During t he charging pro cess, the i con on th e upper r ight corner of the screen is i n an animated status.
Do not use a dam aged battery or charger. Before usi ng the tr avel charger, en sure that the batter y is installed in your ph one. Powering On/Off the Phone T o power on the phone, pre ss and hold until the screen ba cklight is on. T o power off the phone , press and hold until the powe r-of f prompt is displayed.
8 During the calibrati on, tap the center of + accurate ly, to ensure that the phone c an respond to your tap and text ent ry on the screen cor rectly afte r the cali bration .

3 Voice Services Making a Call 1. In standby m ode, tap to access t he dialer. 2. Enter the ph one numbe r on the dialer . For internationa l calls, tap * twice conse cutively to enter the plus sign ( + ). The n enter the country or regio n code, area code, and pho ne number in sequence.

35 12 Security Enabling or Disabling the Phone Lock The phone loc k protect s your phone fro m unauthorized use. B y default, the phone lock is not e nabled. The default phone lock code is the last four digits of the MDN. Y ou can change the default phone lock co de to any numeric strin g of 1 to 8 digits.
36 Locking the Keypad When the keypad is loc ked, you can still answer incoming calls by pressing or ta pping . Manually Locking the Keypad T o avoid misoperations, you c an tap on th e standby s creen to l ock the keypad.

41 14 TTY Operation Using the TTY Device The T eletypewrite r (TTY) is a typew riting device. By connec ting the phone to th e TTY d evice, you can use the TTY functions to s end/receiv e messages. When you use the TTY function, do as follows: 1. Set the phone to the T TY mode and c onnect the TTY device to the headset jack of the pho ne.
