GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 • This mov ement activates a spring-loaded mechanism that tightens the brake band (C) around the engine drive system (D) (clutch drum). • The front hand guard is not designed solely to activate the chain brake .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Will m y hand always activ ate the chain brake during a kickbac k? No . It tak es a cer tain force to mov e the hand guard forw ard. If your hand only lightly touches the front guard or slips ov er it, the force may not be enough to trigger the chain brake .

Stop switch Use the stop switch to s witch off the engine. Muffler The muffler is designed to keep noise le vels to a minimum and to direct exhaust fumes a way from the user .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English • Keep cutting equipment well lubricated and properly maintained! A poor ly lubricated chain is more likely to break and lead to increased wear on the bar , chain and drive sprocket.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 • A sharp chain eats its way through the wood and produces long, thick chips or sha vings. • The cutting par t of the chain is called the cutter and consists of a cutting tooth (A) and the depth gauge (B).
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Adjustment of depth gaug e setting • The cutting teeth should be newly sharpened before adjusting the depth gauge setting. W e recommend that you adjust the depth gauge setting e very third time you sharpen the cutting teeth.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Filling with chain oil • All our chain saws ha ve an automatic chain lubrication system. On some models the oil flow is also adjustable. • The saw chain oil tank and the fuel tank are designed so that the fuel runs out before the saw chain oil.

ASSEMBL Y English – 17 Fitting the bar and chain Chec k that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Remov e the bar nuts and remove the clutch co ver (chain brake). T ake off the transportation ring (A).
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of gasoline and two-stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 Chain oil • We recommend the use of special oil (chain oil) with good adhesion characteristics. • Nev er use waste oil. This results in damage to the oil pump, the bar and the chain. • It is impor tant to use oil of the right grade (suitable viscosity range) to suit the air temperature.
FUEL HANDLING 20 – English Fuel safety • Nev er refuel the machine while the engine is running. • Make sure there is plenty of v entilation when refuelling or mixing fuel (gasoline and 2-stroke oil). • Mov e the machine at least 10 ft (3 m) from the refuelling point before starting it.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 21 Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain br ake should be activated when star ting the chain saw . Activ ate the chain brake b y pushing the front hand guard forw ards. Ignition: Slide the ignition switch to the left.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 22 – English Push in the choke control as soon as the engine fires and make repeated starting attempts. Immediately press and release the throttle when the engine star ts.
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
WORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English 2 Alwa ys hold the chain saw firmly with your right hand on the rear handle and your left hand on the front handle. Wrap your fingers and thumbs around the handles. Y ou should use this grip whether you are right-handed or left-handed.
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 o v er the chain saw and the position of the kickback zone. 9 Follo w the instr uctions on sharpening and maintaining your bar and chain. When you replace the bar and chain use only combinations that are recommended by us.
WORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Cutting If y ou ha ve a pile of logs, each log you attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 • Look for signs of damage and rot in the stem, this makes it more probab ly that the tree will break and star t to fall bef ore you e xpect it to.
WORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Finish the felling cut par allel with the directional cut line so that the distance between them is at least 1/10 of the trunk diameter. The uncut section of the trunk is called the felling hinge . The felling hinge controls the direction that the tree f alls in.
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 29 Contin ue to cut deeper until tree/limb bends and tension is released. Cut tree/limb from outside the bend, after tension has been released.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE English – 31 High speed jet H This chain saw is equipped with a carb urettor that has a built-in fix ed high speed jet. CA UTION! There is an integ rated speed governor in the ignition that limits the maximum speed to 12,000 rpm. Adjusting the jet therefore has no eff ect on the maximum speed.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Chec king the brake trigger Place the chain saw on firm ground and start it. Mak e sure the chain does not touch the ground or any other object. See the instructions under the heading Star t and stop. Grasp the chain saw firmly , wrapping your fingers and thumbs around the handles.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 Vibration damping system Regular ly check the vibration damping units f or cracks or deformation. Make sure the vibration damping units are securely attached to the engine unit and handle unit. Stop switch Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English • Pull out the cord approx. 30 cm (12 inches) and hook it into the notch in the rim of the pulley . Release the recoil spring by letting the pulley rotate slo wly backwards . • Undo the screw in the centre of the pulle y and remove the pulley .
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Air filter The air fi lter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessary wear to engine par ts • Excessive fuel consumption.
MAINTENANCE 36 – English Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum is fitted with one of the following driv e sprock ets: • A Spur sprock et (the chain sprocket is welded on the drum) • B Rim sprock et (replaceable) • Both versions ha ve a needle bearing on the drive shaft, which has to be greased regularly (once a week).
