En g lish – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Use hearing protection to minimise the r isk of hearing impairment. • Nev er wear loose fitting clothes that can catch in mo ving par ts. • Nev er use the machine when baref oot. Alw ays w ear protective shoes or protectiv e boots, pref erab ly with steel toes.

It is slipper y , and tyres can lose their grip so that the machine skids. • Do not tr y to stabilize the machine b y putting your f oot on the ground. • When cleaning the chassis, the machine ma y nev er be driven near v erges or ditches.

14 – En g lish PRESENT A TION Cutting unit Rider 11 R has a cutting unit with rear ejection, i.e. clippings are thrown behind the cutting unit. Rider 11 C, 13 C, 16 A WD and 16 C hav e a 3-blade Combi- unit The Combi-unit, equipped with a BioClip-plug, finely chops the cuttings to f er tiliser .
En g lish – 15 PRESENT A TION Release le ver Rider 13 C, Rider 16 C The release control must be pulled out in order f or the machine to be mov ed when the engine is shutoff . Pull the controls to the end positions, do not use an intermediate position.
16 – En g lish Driving Bef ore star ting • Read the safety instructions and inf ormation concer ning the placement of controls and functions bef ore star ting. • P erf or m daily maintenance bef ore star ting as set out in the Maintenance schedule.
En g lish – 17 Driving With a warm engine: 6 Mov e the throttle in between positions 1 and 2. 7 T ur n the ignition ke y to the star t position. 8 When the engine star ts release the ignition ke y immediately back to neutr al position. 9 Push the choke le v er gradually f orward when the engine has star ted.
18 – En g lish Driving Driving the Rider 1 Release the parking brake b y first pressing down the parking brake pedal and then releasing it. 2 For Rider 13 C, Rider 16 A WD and Rider 16 C Carefully press down one of the pedals until the required speed is obtained.
En g lish – 19 Driving Cutting tips • Localise and mark stones and other fixed objects to a void collision. • Star t with a high cutting height and reduce down until the required mowing results are obtained.
20 – En g lish Maintenance Maintenance sc hedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance which should be conducted on the machine. For those points not described in this manual, visit an authorised ser vice workshop . 1) First change after 5 hours.
En g lish – 21 Maintenance Cleaning Clean the machine directly after use. It is much easier to wash off grass cuttings bef ore the y dr y . Oily dir t can be remov ed using a cold degreasing agent. Spra y on a thin la yer . Rinse at normal water pressure.
22 – En g lish Maintenance Chec king and adjusting the steering wires The steering is controlled by means of wires. These can in time become slack, which implies that the adjustment of the steering becomes altered.
En g lish – 23 Maintenance Adjusting the parking brake Rider 13 C, Rider 16 C Check that the br ake is correctly adjusted b y placing the machine on a slight downhill slope with the clutch disengaged and activating the br ake . When the machine does not stand still, the brak e should be adjusted according to the f ollowing.
24 – En g lish Maintenance 3 Pull back the throttle to the full throttle position and chec k that the choke is no longer actuated. Replacing the air filter If the engine seems to lack po wer or does not run smoothly this ma y be because the air filter is clogged.
En g lish – 25 Maintenance Replacement of fuel filter Replace the fuel filter e very 100 r unning hours (once per season) or more frequently if it is clogged. Replace the filter as f ollows: 1 Open the engine cov er . 2 Mov e the hose clips aw ay from the filter .
26 – En g lish Maintenance Ignition system The engine is equipped with an electronic ignition system. Only the spark plug requires maintenance. F or recommended spark plug, see T echnical data. Replacing the spark plug 1 Remov e the ignition cable shoe and clean around the spark plug.
En g lish – 27 Maintenance Chec k the safety system The machine is equipped with a saf ety system that prev ents star ting or driving under the follo wing conditions. The engine should only be possible to start when the cutting unit is in its raised position and the gear shift le ver or h ydrostat pedals are in the neutral position.

En g lish – 29 Maintenance Chec king the engine’ s cooling air intake Clean the air intake g rille in the engine cover behind the driver’ s seat.
30 – En g lish Maintenance Adjusting the parallelism of the cutting unit 1 Check the air pressure in the tyres 60 kP a/0.6 kp/cm 2 /8.5 PSI. 2 Remov e the front cov er . 3 Loosen the parallelism sta y’ s nuts , the inner nut has a left- hand thread.
En g lish – 31 Maintenance 4 Place the handle on the frame arch. 5 Lift off the drive belt and hang on the load-relie ving hook. 6 Loosen on the cutting height sta y and place in the holder . 7 Grip the front edge of the unit and pull forw ards until it stops.
32 – En g lish Maintenance 3 Fit the front cov er . 4 Set the cutting height control to one of the positions 1-7 Chec king the blades T o achiev e the best mowing results it is impor tant that the blades are undamaged and w ell-shar pened. Check that the b lades’ attachment screws are tight.
En g lish – 33 Lubrication Chec king the engine’ s oil level. Check the oil le v el in the engine when the Rider stands horizontal with the engine s witched off. Open the engine cov er . Loosen the dipstick, pull it up and wipe it off . The dipstic k should be completely screwed do wn Pull the dipstick out again and read the oil le v el.

Undo the two screws (one on each side) and lift off the transmission cov er . 2 Rider 13 C and Rider 16 C Chec k that there is oil in the transmission’ s oil tank.

Fuel which is left to stand for long periods (30 da ys or more) can leav e tacky deposits which can b lock the carburettor and interf ere with the engine.
