Husqv ar na is based on a tradition that dates bac k to 1689, when the Swedish King Karl XI ordered the construction of a factory on the banks of the Huskvarna River , f or production of muskets .

8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS In countries that hav e a warm and dr y climate there is a significant risk of fire. W e therefore fit certain mufflers with a spark arrestor mesh. Check whether the m uffler on your machine is fitted with this kind of mesh.

English – 11 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Sharpening the sa w blade • See the cutting attachment packaging f or correct shar pening instructions. A correctly shar pened b lade is essential for w or king efficiently and to av oid unnecessar y wear to the b lade and clearing saw .
12 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Ensure that the guard e xtension is removed. Use the recommended blade guard.
14 – English ASSEMBL Y • When loosening and tightening the saw b lade nut, there is a risk of injur y from the teeth of the saw b lade. Y ou should theref ore alwa ys ensure that your hand is shielded by the blade guard when doing this . Alwa ys use a sock et spanner with a shaft that is long enough to allow this .
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y 2 Grass clearing The machine should be suppor ted in a harness when grass clearing so that the cutting equipment is parallel to the ground. T riobalance harness Quic k release Push down the red release le ver to release the machine from the harness.
16 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
18 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f ormed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 19 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully e xtended. This can damage the machine. CA UTION! Do not put any par t of y our body in marked area.
20 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine.
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQUES W orking methods • Bef ore you star t clearing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whiche ver end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First determine which direction the stem will f all. Make the first cut on the f elling side. Then finish cutting the stem from the other side. Adjust the cutting pressure to match the size of the stem and the hardness of the wood.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQUES Clearing • The clearing technique removes all unw anted vegetation. K eep the trimmer head just above the g round and tilt it. Let the end of the cord strike the ground around trees , posts, statues and the like . CA UTION! This technique increases the wear on the cord.
24 – English MAINTENANCE Carb uretor Y our Husqv ar na product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions.
English – 25 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment screw T , if it is necessar y to readjust. First tur n the idle adjustment screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate. Then turn the screw anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
26 – English MAINTENANCE Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter . See chapter on T echnical data to see whether y our machine is fitted with a catalytic conv er ter . The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases awa y from the operator .
English – 27 MAINTENANCE Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine parts • Excessive fuel consumption.
