See instr uctions under the heading T echnical data f or inf or mation on the size of file and gauge that are recommended f or the chain fitted to your chain saw .
English – 13 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS • Raise the tip of the bar and stretch the chain by tightening the chain tensioning screw using the combination spanner . Tighten the chain until it does not sag from the underside of the bar . • Use the combination spanner to tighten the bar nut while holding up the tip of the bar .

English – 15 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain br ake is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle. Unscrew the bar n ut and remove the clutch co ver (chain brak e). T ake off the transportation r ing (A).
16 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of gasoline and two- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mixed b y shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
18 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake should be activ ated when star ting the chain saw . Activ ate the chain brake b y pushing the front hand guard f orwards. Ignition; choke: Slide the control to its rear position.
English – 19 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING • The chain brak e should be activated when star ting. Se instructions under the heading Star t and stop. Do not drop star t. This method is v ery dangerous because you may lose control of the saw . • Ne ver star t the machine indoors .
20 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain br ake works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the throttle loc k works correctly and is not damaged. 3 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that all handles are free from oil.
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 7 T ake great care when cutting a tree that is under tension. A tree that is under tension ma y spr ing bac k to its nor mal position bef ore or after being cut. If you position y ourself incorrectly or make the cut in the wrong place the tree ma y hit you or the machine and cause y ou to lose control.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 8 T ake great care when y ou cut with the top edge of the bar , i.e. when cutting from the underside of the object. This is known as cutting with a pushing chain. The chain tries to push the chain saw bac k towards the user .
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Cutting The log is lying on the gr ound . There is little risk of the chain jamming or the object splitting. Ho wev er there is a risk that the chain will touch the ground when y ou finish the cut. Cut all the wa y through the log from abov e.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Se veral f actors aff ect this: • Lean of the tree • Bend • Wind direction • Arrangement of branches • W eight of snow Y ou ma y find you are f orced to let the tree fall in its natur al direction because it is impossible or dangerous to try to make it f all in the direction you first intended.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES The f elling hinge controls the direction that the tree falls in. All control ov er the felling direction is lost if the f elling hinge is too narrow or non-e xistent, or if the directional cuts and f elling cut are badly placed.
26 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES How to a v oid kic kback What is kic kback? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , kno wn as the kickback zone , touches an object.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE General The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual. Carb uretor adjustment Due to e xisting environmental and emissions legislation your chain saw is equipped with mo vement limiters on the carburetor adjuster scre ws.

English – 29 MAINTENANCE Chain catcher Check that the chain catcher is not damaged and is firmly attached to the body of the chain saw . Vibration damping system Regularly check the vibration damping units f or crac ks or def or mation. Make sure the vibr ation damping units are securely attached to the engine unit and handle unit.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Star ter Changing a br oken or worn starter cord • Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the crankcase and remov e the star ter . • Pull out the cord appro x. 30 cm (12 inches) and hook it into the notch in the rim of the pulley .
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine parts • Excessive fuel consumption.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter . 2 Air guide plate. 3 Fins on the flywheel. 4 Cooling fins on the cylinder .
