GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 6 – English Bef ore using a new c hain saw • Please read this manual carefully . • Check that the cutting equipment is correctly fitted and adjusted. See instr uctions under the heading Assembly . • Refuel and star t the chain saw .

GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English • The chain brake (A) can either be activ ated manually (by y our left hand) or automatically by the inertia release mechanism.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 If the kickbac k is less violent or the kickbac k zone of the bar is closer to you the chain brak e is designed to be activated manually b y the movement of your left hand. • In the felling position the left hand is in a position that makes manual activ ation of the chain brake impossible.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Right hand guar d Apar t from protecting your hand if the chain jumps or snaps, the right hand guard stops branches and twigs from interfering with your g rip on the rear handle.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 General rules • Only use cutting equipment recommended by us! See instructions under the heading T echnical data. • Keep the chain’ s cutting teeth properly sharpened! Follow our instructions and use the recommended file gauge.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English • Number of drive links. The number of dr ive links is determined by the length of the bar , the chain pitch and the number of teeth on the bar tip sprock et. • Bar groov e width (inches/mm). The groov e in the bar must match the width of the chain drive links.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 Sharpening cutting teeth T o shar pen cutting teeth you will need a round file and a file gauge. See instructions under the heading T echnical data for inf or mation on the size of file and gauge that are recommended for the chain fitted to y our chain saw .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English • Release the knob by f olding it out. • T urn the knob anti clockwise to loosen the bar cover . • Adjust the tension on the chain by turning the wheel down (+) f or tighter tension and up (-) to loosen the tension.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Checking chain lubrication • Check the chain lubrication each time you refuel. See instructions under the heading Lubricating the bar tip sprock et. Aim the tip of the bar at a light coloured surface about 20 cm (8 inches) awa y .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 16 – English Bar Check regularly: • Whether there are burrs on the edges of the bar . Remov e these with a file if necessary . • Whether the groov e in the bar has become badly worn. Replace the bar if necessary . • Whether the tip of the bar is unev en or badly wor n.
ASSEMBL Y English – 17 Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Loosen the chain tensioner wheel and remov e the clutch cov er (chain brake). Remov e the transport guard.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be r un using a mixture of gasoline and two-stroke oil. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is well mixed b y shaking the container before refuelling.
ST ARTING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Starting and stopping Starting The chain brak e should be activated when starting the chain saw . Activate the chain brake b y pushing the front hand guard forw ards. Cold engine Start position (1): Set the star t/stop switch in the chok e position by pulling the red control outward - upw ard (1).
ST ARTING AND ST OPPING English – 21 CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully extended. This can damage the machine. Note! Pull the front hand guar d towar ds the front handle.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e wor ks correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 6 Before mo ving your chain sa w switch off the engine and lock the chain using the chain brak e. Carry the chain saw with the bar and chain pointing bac kwards. Fit a guard to the bar before tr anspor ting the chain saw or carrying it for any distance .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English user . If the sa w chain is jamming, the saw ma y be pushed back at y ou. 8 Unless the user resists this pushing force there is a risk that the chain saw will mov e so far bac kwards that only the kickbac k zone of the bar is in contact with the tree, which can lead to a kickbac k.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 Limbing When limbing thick br anches you should use the same approach as for cutting. Cut difficult branches piece by piece . Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs , each log you attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Felling direction The aim is to f ell the tree in a position where you can limb and cross-cut the log as easily as possible.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 Ne xt mak e the bottom cut so that it finishes exactly at the end of the top cut. The directional cuts should run 1/4 of the diameter through the trunk and the angle between the top cut and bottom cut should be 45 ° .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Freeing a tree that has fallen badl y Freeing a ”trapped tree” It is very dangerous to remov e a trapped tree and there is high accident risk. Nev er tr y to fell the tree that is trapped. Nev er work in the r isk zone of the hanging trapped tree.

MAINTENANCE English – 31 Checking the inertia brake release With the engine turned off, hold the chain saw o ver a stump or other firm object. Let go of the front handle so that the bar drops towards the stump as the chain sa w rotates around the rear handle.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Throttle loc kout • Make sure the throttle control is loc ked at the idle setting when the throttle lock out is released. • Press the throttle lock out and make sure it returns to its original position when you release it.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 Stop switc h Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting. CA UTION! The start/stop switch automatically returns to run position.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English recoil spring by letting the pulley rotate slo wly backwards . • Undo the bolt in the centre of the pulley and remov e the drive disc (A), drive disc spring (B) and the pulley (C). Inser t and secure a new star ter cord in the star ter pulley .
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Fitting the starter • T o fit the star ter , first pull out the star ter cord and place the star ter in position against the crankcase. Then slowly release the starter cord so that the pulley engages with the pawls. • Fit and tighten the screws that hold the starter.
MAINTENANCE 36 – English Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft. This needle bearing must be lubricated regularly . When lubricating, remove the clutch co ver b y loosening the two bar nuts. Lay the saw on its side with the clutch drum upwards.
