GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English T ake care when using your saw and mak e sure the kickbac k zone of the bar nev er touches any object. • The chain brake (A) can either be activ ated manually (b y y our left hand) or automatically by the iner tia release mechanism.

The machine ′ s vibration damping system reduces the transf er of vibration between the engine unit/cutting equipment and the machine ′ s handle unit.

GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 16 – English Replace the saw chain if it e xhibits any of the points abov e. We recommend y ou compare the existing chain with a new chain to decide how badly the e xisting chain is worn. When the length of the cutting teeth has worn down to only 4 mm the chain must be replaced.
ASSEMBL Y English – 17 Fitting the bar and chain 455 Rancher II, 460 Rancher II, 465 Rancher II Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Remov e the bar n uts and remo v e the clutch cover (chain br ake).
ASSEMBL Y 18 – English Fit the bar ov er the bar bolts. Place the bar in its rearmost position. Place the chain over the driv e sprocket locate it in the groov e on the bar . Begin on the top edge of the bar . Make sure that the edges of the cutting links are f acing f orw ard on the top edge of the bar.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke oil. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING 20 – English Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is well mix ed by shaking the container before refuelling.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 21 Starting and stopping Starting The chain brak e must be engaged when the chain sa w is star ted. Activate the brak e by moving the front hand guard forw ards. Cold engine Start position (1): Set the star t/stop switch in the chok e position by pulling the red control outward - upw ard.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 22 – English Note! Reactivate the chain br ake by pushing the front hand guard back tow ards the front handle. The chain sa w is now ready f or use. • Nev er star t a chain saw unless the bar , chain and all co v ers are fitted correctly .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e w orks correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English Fit a guard to the bar bef ore transpor ting the chain saw or carrying it for any distance . 7 When you put the chain sa w on the ground, lock the sa w chain using the chain brak e and ensure you ha ve a constant view of the machine.

W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Cut difficult branches piece by piece . Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs, each log you attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually . Remov e the cut pieces from the cutting area.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 Felling direction The aim is to f ell the tree in a position where you can limb and cross-cut the log as easily as possible.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Ne xt mak e the bottom cut so that it finishes e xactly at the end of the top cut. The directional cuts should run 1/4 of the diameter through the tr unk and the angle between the top cut and bottom cut should be 45 ° .

MAINTENANCE English – 31 General The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this Operator's Manual. More extensiv e work must be carried out by an authorized service workshop. Carburettor adjustment Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Checking the inertia brake release Place the chain saw , with the engine switched off , on a stump or other stable surf ace. Release the front handle and let the saw f all by its own weight, rotating around the rear handle towards the stump .
MAINTENANCE English – 33 • Star t the chain saw and apply full throttle . Release the throttle control and check that the chain stops and remains stationary . If the chain rotates when the throttle trigger is in the idle position, contact your servicing dealer.

The machine is supplied from the factory with the screw set to position 2. T ur ning the screw cloc kwise will reduce the oil flow and turning the screw anti-clockwise will increase the oil flow .
