English- 16 CONTROLS Controls This operator’s manual describes the Husqvarna Zero T urn Rider . The rider is fitted with a Kawasaki or Kohler four-stroke V -T win engine de veloping 25-30 horse po wer . T ransmission fr om the engine is m ade via two belt-driven hy draulic pu mps, which in turn drive a hydraulic motor for each drive wheel.
English- 17 CONTROLS 1. Motion Control Levers The machine’ s speed and directio n are continuously variable us ing the two steering controls. The s teering controls ca n be moved forward or backward abo ut a neutral position. Furthermore, there is a neu tral position, which is locked if th e steering controls are moved outward.
English- 18 CONTROLS 2. Hour Meter The hour meter displays the tot al operating time. It will flash CHG OIL (Change Oil) at 50 hour intervals. The flash duration is on e hour before and o ne hour af ter the interval. The CHG OIL icon will come on and shut off automatically .
English- 19 CONTROLS 5. Blade switch In order to engage the mower deck, pull the knob out; the mower blades are disengaged when the knob is depresse d. 6. Ignition Switch The ignition key is placed on the driver’s panel and is used to st art and stop the engine.
English- 20 CONTROLS 8. Seat Locking Device Under the rear part of the se at is a locking device that locks the seat into its folded position. The seat has a linked fixtur e at the front edge and can be fo lded forwar d when the locking device is pushed.
English- 21 CONTROLS 10. Fuel Shut Off V alve The fuel shut of f valve is located at the right rear of the seat. The valve has th ree positions; right t ank, left tank and center is the off position. 1 1. Seat Adjustment Lever The seat can be adjusted lengthwa ys.

Throttle Control The throttle control r egulates the engine speed and thereby the rate of rot ation of the blades, assuming the bla de switch is pulled out, see Engaging the Mowe r Deck. In order to increase or decrease the en gine speed, the control is move d downward or upward respectively .
English- 23 CONTROLS Cutting height pedal On some models there is a deck as sist lift pedal to aid in the lif ting of the deck. Pump release valves Pump release valves are located at the pumps. Th ey are used to release the system so the machine may be moved by ha nd when not running.
English- 24 OPERATION Operation Read "Safety Instru ctions" s ection and following pages, if you are unfamiliar with the machine. T raining Zero turn mowers are fa r more manueverable than typ ical riding mowers due to their unique steering capabilities.
English- 25 OPERATION Roll bar and safety belt Operate the unit with the roll bar in the raised and locked position and use the seat belt. There is no rollover prote ction when the roll bar is down. If it is necessary to lower roll bar , do not wear the seat belt.
English- 26 OPERATION 4. Disengage the mowe r blades by depressing the bla de switch. 5. Move the steering con trols outward to the locked (outer) neutral position.
English- 27 OPERATION 7. If the engine is cold, the choke control should be pulled out to its extent s. 8. Open the fuel valve for the selected fuel tan k.

English- 29 OPERATION T o start an engine with a weak battery If your battery is too we ak to start the engine , it should be recharged. (See "Battery" in the "Maintenance" section).
English- 30 OPERATION Running 1. Release the p arking brake by moving the lever forward. Y our mower is equi pped with an operator presence system. When the engine is running, any attempt by the op erator to leave the seat without fir st setting the park brake will shut off the engine.
English- 31 OPERATION In order , for examp le, to turn right while moving forward, move the right control towards the neutral position . The rotation of the right wheel is re duced and the machine turns to the right.
English- 32 OPERATION Mowing Tip s • Observe and flag rocks and other fixed objects to avoid collisions. • Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until the desired mowing result is attained. The average lawn should be cut to 2 1/2" (64 mm) during the cool season an d over 3" (76 mm) durin g the hot months.
English- 33 OPERATION Stopping the Engine Allow the engine to idle a minute in order to attain normal operating tempe rature before stopping it, if it has been worked hard. A void idling the engine for longe r periods, as there is a risk of the spark plugs fouling.
English- 34 OPERATION Moving by Hand In order for the machine to be moved with the engine turned of f, the vent screws on both hydraulic pumps must be opened 1/ 4-1/2 turn.
English- 35 MAINTENANCE Maintenance Maintenance Schedule The following is a list of maintenance procedures th at must be performed on the ma chine. For those point s not described in this manual, visit an authorized se rvice workshop.
English- 36 MAINTENANCE 1) First change a fter 8 hours. When operating with a heavy l oad or at high ambient temper atures, repl ace every 50 hours. 2) In dusty co nditions, cleaning and replacement ar e required more of ten. 3) For daily use, the machine should be lubricated twice weekly .
English- 37 MAINTENANCE Battery Y our mower is equipped with a maintenan ce free battery and does not need servicing. However , periodic charging of the battery with an automotive type battery char ger will extend its life. • Keep battery and terminals clean.

The engine can only be st arted when: 1. The mower de ck is disengaged. 2. The steering controls are in the outer , locked neutral position.

English- 41 MAINTENANCE Checking the Engine's Cooling Air Int ake Check that the engine’ s cooling air int ake is free from leaves, g rass, and dirt. If the cooling air int ake is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lea d to engine damage.
English- 42 MAINTENANCE Cyclon air filter maintenance If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly , the air filter may be clog ged. If runn ing with a dirty air filter , the spark plugs can becom e fouled. For this reason, it is import ant to replace the air filter regularly (see th e heading Maintenan ce Schedule for the pro per service interval).
English- 43 MAINTENANCE Filter replacement 1. Remove the end cover . 2. Remove the main filter (outer filter) by pulling it out by hand. 3. Remove the inner filter by pulling it out by hand. 4. Clean inside of the filter housing. Wipe dry only . 5. Install the inner filter with the op en end first.
English- 44 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Fuel Filter Replace the line-moun ted fuel filter every 100 hours (once per seaso n) or more often if it becomes clogged. Replace the filter as follows: 1. Move the hose clamp s away from the filter . Use flat-nosed pliers.
English- 45 MAINTENANCE Checking Tire Pressures All four tires should ha ve a pressure of 15 psi / 103 kPa / 1 bar . Checking the Parking Brake Visuall y check that no damage is found on the lever , links, or switch belonging to the parking br ake. Perform a test drive and check that there is sufficent br aking action.
English- 46 MAINTENANCE Pump belt Check belt every 100 hours for exce ssive wear . T o replace belt. Relieve tension on the deck belt and remove d eck belt from clutch. See “Deck belt” on p age 45. Loosen bolt on the clutch tie down and rotate out of the way .
English- 47 MAINTENANCE Blade replacement : • Remove blade bolt by turning counterclockwise. • Install new o r re-sharpened blade with stamped "GRASS SIDE" facing towards ground/grass (down) or “THIS SIDE UP” facing deck and cutte r housing.
English- 48 MAINTENANCE Adjusting the Mower Deck Leveling 1. Position the mowe r on a level, preferably concrete, su rface. 2. Check the pressure in all four tires. See “T echnical Data” on p age 66. 3. Rotate blades to align front to back. 4. Set the cutting height to 4”.
English- 49 MAINTENANCE T o adjust anti-scalp rollers Anti-scalp rollers are properly adj usted when they are just slightly off of the ground when the deck is at the desired cutting height in the operating position. Anti-scalp rollers then keep the deck in the prop er position to help prevent scalping in most terrain conditions.
English- 50 MAINTENANCE Cleaning and W ashing Regular cleaning and washing, especially under the mower de ck, will increase the machine’ s lifespan. Make it a habit to clean the machine direc tly after use (after it is cooled), before the dirt sticks.
English- 51 LUBRICATION Lubrication Lubrication Schedule General Remove the ignition ke y to prevent unintentional movement s during lubrication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be filled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise st ated , use a high grade molybden um disulfide grease.
English- 52 LUBRICATION Lubricating the Cables If possible, grease both end s of the cables and move the contro ls to end stop pos itions when lubricating. Refit the rubber covers on the cables af ter lubrica tion. Cables with sheaths will bind if they a re not lubricated regularly .
English- 53 LUBRICATION 3. Engine Oil, Kohler Engine Changing the Engine Oil Change oil af ter every 100 hours o f operation (more frequently unde r severe conditions). Refill with service class SG , SH, SJ or higher oil as specified in the V iscosity Grades table on page 55 .
English- 54 LUBRICATION Checking the Oil Level The import ance of checking and maint aining the proper oil level in the crankcase cannot be overemphasized. Check oil before each use as follows: 1. Make sure the engine is stoped . level, and cool so the oil has had tim e to drain into the oil p an.
English- 55 LUBRICATION Oil Recommendations Using the proper type and weight of oil in the crankcase is extremel y important. So is checking oil daily and changing oil regularly . Failure to use the correct oil, or using dirty oil, causes premature engine wear and failure.
English- 56 LUBRICATION 3. Engine Oil, Kawasaki Engine Changing the Engine Oil The engine oil shall be changed for the first time afte r 8 hours of operation. The reafter , it should be changed every 100 hou rs. 1. Place the machine on a flat surface.
English- 57 LUBRICATION The oil level shall lie between the markings on the dip stick. If the level is approaching the ”ADD” mark, top up the oil to the ”FUL L” mark on the dip stick. Never fill above the ”FULL” mark. The oil is filled thro ugh the hole for the dipstick.
