This operator’ s manual describes PR 17, PR 17 A WD , PF 21 and PF 21 A WD . The machines are equipped with a four-strok e V - T win engine from Kawasaki.
14 – English PRESENT A TION Cutting unit PR 17 and PR 17 A WD can be equipped with three different cutting units. CombiT urf 94, CombiT urf 103 and CombiT urf 112 PF 21 and PF 21 A WD can be equipped with two different cutting units.
English – 15 PRESENT A TION Mo wing P osition If the lock b utton is pressed in and the le ver is mo v ed forw ards the unit will be lowered and the b lades will automatically star t to rotate (mowing position). If this does not happen it is probably because the unit has been lifted with the h ydraulic lifting le ver .
16 – English PRESENT A TION Lights and power outlet PR 17 and PR 17 A WD PF 21 and PF 21 A WD The lights are s witched on and off using the power s witch (1) on the control panel. A seat heater or mobile phone charger are e xamples of ar ticles that can be connected to the power soc ket (2).
English – 17 Driving Cutting tips • Localise and mark stones and other fixed objects to a void collision. • Star t with a high cutting height and reduce down until the required mowing results are obtained. • The mowing results are best with a high engine speed (f ast rotating blades) and lo w driving speed (slow moving machine).
18 – English Driving 4 If the engine is cold mov e the choke le ver bac kwards to its end position. 5 T ur n the ignition ke y to the star t position. 6 When the engine star ts release the ignition ke y immediately back to neutr al position. 7 Push the choke le ver gradually f orward when the engine has star ted.
English – 19 Driving Driving the Rider 1 Release the parking brake b y first pressing down the parking brake pedal and then releasing it. 2 Carefully press down one of the pedals until the required speed is obtained. P edal (1) is used to drive f orwards, and pedal (2) to drive bac kwards.
20 – English Driving Stop the engine Pref erably allo w the engine to idle f or a minute to obtain normal wor king temperature bef ore stopping it if it has been working hard. Av oid idling the engine for long periods, as there is a risk of carbon build-up on the spark plugs.

22 – English Maintenance Maintenance schedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance which should be conducted on the machine. For those points not described in this manual, visit an authorised ser vice workshop.
English – 23 Maintenance 1) First change after 8 hours. When oper ating with a heavy load or at high ambient temperatures , replace e very 50 hours. 2) Maintenance and replacement are required more often in dusty conditions. 3) If the machine is used daily it should be lubricated twice a week.
24 – English Maintenance Cleaning Clean the machine directly after use. It is much easier to wash off grass cuttings bef ore they dr y . Oily dir t can be remov ed using a cold degreasing agent. Spra y on a thin la yer . Rinse at normal water pressure.
English – 25 Maintenance Chec king and adjusting the steering wires The steering is controlled by means of wires. These can in time become slack, which implies that the adjustment of the steering becomes altered.
26 – English Maintenance 3 Remov e the left-hand wing cov er. 4 Loosen the locking n uts. 5 Adjust the pla y between the casing and the adjustment screw to 1 mm (0.040") when one pulls the casing. This gives a pla y on the pedal of approximately 40 mm.
English – 27 Maintenance Checking the fuel pump’ s air filter Check regularly that the fuel pump’ s air filter is free from dir t. The filter can when necessar y be cleaned with a brush. • Remov e the screws and open the pump , no hoses need be remov ed.
28 – English Maintenance Check the le vel of the batter y acid Check that the le vel of the battery acid lies between the markings. T op up the cells with distilled water only . Ignition system The engine is equipped with an electronic ignition system.
English – 29 Maintenance Check the saf ety system The machine is equipped with a saf ety system that pre vents star ting or driving under the following conditions . The engine should only be possible to start when the cutting unit is in its raised position and the parking brake is applied.
30 – English Maintenance Replacing the light bulbs F or information about the bulb type , see T echnical Data. 1 Unscrew the tw o screws holding the co ver on the po wer ser vo housing. 2 Lift up the cov er and turn it around the steer ing shaft. 3 Unscrew the tw o screws holding the lamp insert.
English – 31 Maintenance Checking the engine’ s cooling air intake Clean the air intake g rille in the engine cover behind the driver’ s seat. Open the engine cov er .
32 – English Maintenance 8 Pull the belt off of the engine's pulley and mo ve it under the engine belt pulleys . 9 Pull out the belt through the opening under the pivot bearing and past the belt tensioner's disc. Assemb ly 1 Pull the belt through the opening under the pivot bearing and on the outside past the belt tensioner's disc.
English – 33 Maintenance 5 Remov e the cooling f an, it is held in place by a n ut. 6 Pull the belt off of the pump's pulley . 7 Pull the belt off of the engine's pulley and mo ve it under the engine belt pulleys . 8 Pull out the belt through the opening under the pivot bearing and past the belt tensioner's disc.
34 – English Maintenance Replacing the front belt The entire belt is remov ed according to the following when a snow b lade is to be attached to the machine. 1 Put the unit in the ser vice position, see Ser vice position f or the cutting unit. 2 Pull the centre belt off of the centre pulley .
English – 35 Maintenance 7 Fit the drive belt around the drive wheels of the cutting unit. Hook up the height adjustment strut. 8 Secure the collet spring. Fit the front cov er . Removing the cutting unit 1 Carr y out points 1-6 to put the cutting unit in the ser vice position, see Ser vice position f or the cutting unit.
36 – English Maintenance Checking the cutting unit’ s parallelism Check the cutting unit’ s parallelism as f ollows: 1 Check the air pressure in the tyres 60 kP a/0.6 bar/8.5 PSI. 2 Place the machine on a flat surf ace. 3 Put the lifting le ver in the mo wing position.
English – 37 Maintenance 6 Remov e the screws on the cutting co v er . Lift the unit frame and remov e the cutting unit cover . 7 Loosen the spring that tensions the V -belt and pr y off the belt. Simply re verse the procedure to fit the ne w belt.
38 – English Maintenance Restoring fr om service position 1 Grip the front edge of the unit and loosen the lock, f old down and slide in the unit. 2 Replace the cutting height sta y and the belt. 3 T ension the belt with the belt adjuster . 4 Fit the front cov er .
English – 39 Lubrication General Remo v e the ignition ke y to prev ent unintentional mov ements during lubr ication. When lubricating with an oilcan, it ought to be filled with engine oil.
40 – English Lubrication Driver seat F old up the seat. Lubricate the lengthwa ys adjustment runners with oilcan. Thr ottle and choke cables, lever bearings • Remov e the right side cov er on the lev er housing (3 screws) and open the engine co ver .
English – 41 Lubrication Replacing the engine oil Open the engine co ver. The engine oil should be changed the first time after 8 hours running time. It should then be changed after ev er y 100 hours of running time. When operating with a hea vy load or at high ambient temperatures, replace e very 50 hours.
42 – English Lubrication Hydraulic oil filter change • T ur n the old oil filter anti-clockwise to remov e. If necessar y , use a filter remov er . • Lightly lubricate the r ubber seal on the ne w oil filter using new oil. • Tighten the filter by hand until y ou f eel it make contact, then tighten a fur ther 3/4 tur n.

48 – English Storage Winter stora ge At the end of the season, or if the machine is going to stand idle f or more than 30 days , it should immediately be made ready f or storage. Fuel which is left to stand for long periods (30 da ys or more) can leav e tacky deposits which can b lock the carburettor and interf ere with the engine.
