English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Will m y hand alwa ys activate the c hain brake during a kickbac k? No . It takes a cer tain force to mov e the hand guard f orward. If your hand only lightly touches the front guard or slips o ver it, the f orce may not be enough to trigger the chain brak e.
10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting hardwoods (most broadleaf trees) creates more vibration than cutting softwoods (most conif ers). Cutting with cutting equipment that is blunt or f aulty (wrong type or badly shar pened) will increase the vibration le vel.

16 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain br ake is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle. Remov e the bar nuts and remov e the clutch cov er (chain brak e). T ake off the transportation r ing (A).
English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of gasoline and two- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mixed b y shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
English – 19 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake should be activ ated when star ting the chain saw . Activ ate the chain brake b y pushing the front hand guard f orwards. Ignition; choke (A): Set the chok e control in the choke position.
20 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Note! Pull the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. The chain brak e is now disengaged. Y our saw is ready for use . • Ne ver start a chain saw unless the bar , chain and all cov ers are fitted correctly .
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Before use: 1 Check that the chain br ake works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc k works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.

Both situations can cause serious personal injur y . 6 Bef ore moving your chain sa w switch off the engine and lock the chain using the chain br ake.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 7 T ake great care when y ou cut with the top edge of the bar , i.e. when cutting from the underside of the object. This is known as cutting with a pushing chain. The chain tries to push the chain saw bac k towards the user .
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES The f ollowing instructions describe how to handle the common situations you are lik ely to encounter when using a chain saw . Limbing When limbing thick br anches you should use the same approach as f or cutting. Cut difficult branches piece b y piece.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES T ree f elling technique Safe distance The saf e distance between a tree that is to be felled and any one else working nearby is at least 2 1/2 tree lengths. Make sure that no-one else is in this ”risk zone” before or during felling.
26 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Felling F elling is done using three cuts. First you make the directional cuts, which consist of the top cut and the bottom cut, then y ou finish with the f elling cut. By placing these cuts correctly you can control the f elling direction very accurately .
English – 27 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES W e recommend that you use a bar that is longer than the diameter of the tree, so that y ou can make the f elling cut and directional cuts with single cutting strokes . See instructions under the heading T echnical data section to find out which lengths of bar are recommended f or your saw .
28 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES How to a v oid kic kback What is kickbac k? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , known as the kickback zone , touches an object.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE General The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual. More e xtensive work must be carried out by an authorised ser vice workshop.
30 – English MAINTENANCE High speed jet H At the factory the engine is adjusted at sea level. When working at a high altitude or in diff erent weather conditions, temperatures and atmospheric humidity , it may be necessary to make minor adjustments to the high speed jet.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Checking the brake trig ger Place the chain saw on firm ground and star t it. Mak e sure the chain does not touch the ground or any other object. See the instructions under the heading Star t and stop. Grasp the chain sa w fir mly , wrapping y our fingers and thumbs around the handles.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Stop switc h Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when y ou mov e the stop switch to the stop setting. Muffler Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE Star ter Changing a broken or w orn starter cord • Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the crankcase and remov e the star ter . • Pull out the cord appro x. 30 cm (12 inches) and hook it into the notch in the rim of the pulley .
34 – English MAINTENANCE Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine par ts • Excessive fuel consumption.
English – 35 MAINTENANCE Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft. This needle bearing must be lubricated regular ly (once a week). When lubricating, remove the clutch co ver b y loosening the two bar nuts .
36 – English MAINTENANCE Winter use Running problems can occur when using the machine in the cold and snowy conditions caused b y: • T oo low engine temperature.
