GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English Chain brake and fr ont hand guard Y our chain sa w is equipped with a chain brake that is designed to stop the chain if you get a kic kback. The chain brake reduces the risk of accidents, b ut only you can prev ent them.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 If the kickbac k is less violent or the kickback zone of the bar is closer to you the chain brak e will be activated manually b y the movement of y our left hand. • In the felling position the left hand is in a position that makes manual activ ation of the chain brake impossible.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English with cutting equipment that is b lunt or faulty (wrong type or badly sharpened) will increase the vibration level. Stop switc h Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine. Muffler The muffler is designed to keep noise le vels to a minimum and to direct exhaust fumes a way from the user .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 Cutting equipment designed to reduce kickbac k The only wa y to avoid kic kback is to make sure that the kickbac k zone of the bar nev er touches anything.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English • The cutting par t of the chain is called the cutter and consists of a cutting tooth (A) and the depth gauge (B). The cutters cutting depth is deter mined by the difference in height betw een the two (depth gauge setting).
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 Adjustment of depth gauge setting • The cutting teeth should be newly sharpened before adjusting the depth gauge setting. W e recommend that you adjust the depth gauge setting e very third time you sharpen the cutting teeth.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Filling with chain oil • All our chain saws ha ve an automatic chain lubrication system. On some models the oil flow is also adjustable. • The saw chain oil tank and the fuel tank are designed so that the fuel runs out before the saw chain oil.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Bar Check regularly: • Whether there are burrs on the edges of the bar . Remov e these with a file if necessar y . • Whether the groov e in the bar has become badly worn. Replace the bar if necessar y . • Whether the tip of the bar is unev en or badly worn.
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Unscrew the bar nut and remo ve the clutch cov er (chain brake). T ak e off the transpor tation guard.
FUEL HANDLING English – 17 Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke oil. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is well mix ed by shaking the container before refuelling.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 19 Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brake b y moving the front hand guard forw ards. Primer bulb: Press the air purge repeatedly until fuel begins to fill the bulb .
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English the engine starts, quickly apply full throttle; the throttle star t lock will automatically disengage . Note! Reactivate the chain brak e by pushing the front hand guard back tow ards the front handle. The chain saw is now ready f or use.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 21 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 3 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that all handles are free from oil.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English suddenly . T ake great care when working on sloping ground. 7 T ake great care when cutting a tree that is in tension.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 6 If you ha ve to cut branches or the like that are abo ve shoulder height, a working platform or scaffold to wer is recommended. 7 T ake great care when y ou cut with the top edge of the bar , i.e. when cutting from the underside of the object.

W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Limbing When limbing thick br anches you should use the same approach as for cutting. Cut difficult branches piece by piece . Felling technique f or tree tops Safe distance During tree maintenance work above ground le vel, the working area must alwa ys be secured and marked out with signs, tape or the like .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 The directional cuts should run 1/4 of the diameter through the trunk and the angle between the top cut and bottom cut should be 45 ° . The line where the two cuts meet is called the directional cut line. This line should be perfectly horizontal and at right angles (90 ° ) to the chosen felling direction.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English General advice: P osition yourself so that you will be clear of the tree or branch when the tension is released. Make one or more cuts at or near the point of maximum tension.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 General The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this manual. Carburettor adjustment Due to existing en vironmental and emissions legislation your chain sa w is equipped with movement limiters on the carburettor adjuster scre ws.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English High speed jet H At the factory the engine is adjusted at sea level. When working at a high altitude or in different weather conditions, temperatures and atmospheric humidity , it may be necessary to make minor adjustments to the high speed jet.
MAINTENANCE English – 31 Throttle loc kout • Make sure the throttle control is loc ked at the idle setting when the throttle lock out is released. • Press the throttle lock out and make sure it returns to its original position when you release it.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. Loosen the screws (1 and 2). Push the muffler cov er as shown in the picture.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 • Undo the screw in the centre of the pulle y and remove the pulley . Inser t and fasten a ne w star ter cord to the pulley . Wind appro x. 3 tur ns of the star ter cord onto the pulley . Connect the pulley to the recoil spring so that the end of the spring engages in the pulley .
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessary wear to engine par ts. • Excessive fuel consumption.
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Adjustment of the oil pump The oil pump is adjustable . Adjustments are made by turning the screw with a screwdriver . T ur ning the screw clockwise will increase the oil flow , tur ning it anticlockwise will reduce the oil flow .
