T o ensure safe and proper operation of y our tractor all par ts and hardware you assemb le must be tightened securely . Use the correct tools as necessar y to insure proper tightness.

Be sure they are prop er ly adjusted to ensure optimum mow er per f or - mance. • Slide gauge wheel bar down into brac ket channel, Be sure that gauge wheel bar aligning holes are on top .

9 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov er infl ated at the f actor y f or shipping pur poses. Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting performance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in “PRODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this manual.

12 T O ADJUST GA UGE WHEELS (See Fig. 9) Gauge wheels are properly adjusted when they are slightly off the ground when mow er is at the desired cutting height in operating position. Gauge wheels then keep the dec k in proper position to help pre vent scalping in most terrain conditions.
13 OPERA TION 02775 LO W POSITION T O OPERA TE MO WER (See Fig. 10) Y our tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing s witch. Any attempt b y the operator to leav e the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine.
14 OPERA TION T O ST ART ENGINE (See Fig. 8) When star ting the engine for the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cranking time to mov e fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure free wheel control is in the transmission en gaged position.
15 OPERA TION MO WING TIPS • Mower should be properly lev eled f or best mowing per- f or mance. See “T O LEVEL MOWER HOUSING” in the Ser vice and Adjustments section of this manual. • The left hand side of mower should be used f or tr im- ming.

17 MAINTENANCE BLADE REMO V AL (See Fig. 13) • Raise mower to highest position to allow access to blades . NO TE: Protect your hands with glo ves and/or wrap b lade with heavy cloth. • Remov e blade bolt by turning counterclockwise . • Install new or resharpened blade with stamped "THIS SIDE UP" f acing deck and mandrel assembly .
18 MAINTENANCE TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling. Do not attempt to clean f an or transmission while engine is running or while the transmission is hot. T o prev ent pos- si ble damage to seals , do not use high pressure water or steam to clean transaxle.
