Abou t the IE -iM cV-T1/E 1/J1 -Line Term, TP/ SFP IE-iMcV-T1/ E1/J1-Line Term, TP/S FP is an SNMP -Manageable m odule that c onverts standard TD M -based c opper transp orts ( T1, E1 , J1) to a single -mode or mul ti-mode fiber signal. It performs a standard “L ine Termination ” function as define d in GR - 820-CORE.
NOTE IE-iMcV- T1/E1/J1-L ineTer m, TP/SFP with SFP Module can be installed in an iMed iaChassis and MediaChas sis series. Installing an iMcV-Module iMcV-Modules install in IMC Ne tworks’ SNMP manageable iM ediaChassis series or in any MediaCha ssis/IE-Me diaChassis series.

Conf igur ation Cont rol Some iMcV -Modules offer confi guration c ontrol; lab els on the fr ont faceplate a re identified as such. Configuration control has been implemented to assi st the end user by retaining the latest confi guration re gardle ss of ho w that con figurati on was implemented (via DIP S witch settings or S NMP).
NOTE If the end user has a mixture of standard iM cV-Modules as well as Configura tion Control iMcV-Modules, it is important to understand how SNMP and DIP Switches will impact the cards depending on their capa bility.
DIP Switches The IE-iMcV-T1/E1/J1 -LineTerm, TP /SFP DI P Switches are locate d on S2 an d S3 on the PCB. T he loca tion of the S2 a nd S3 DIP Switches are displayed in the following diag ram :.

Featu re s The IE-iMcV-T1/E1/J1-LineTerm, TP/S FP module includes sever al feature s to facilitate maintenance and troubleshooting in an y T1/E1/J1 based TDM environment. SFP SFPs wit h Data and Diagn ostics Management Information (DD MI) can be in stalle d in the SFP port of the h ost and the remot e.
Loopback Modes This feature allows thre e distinct Loopba cks to be activated eit her through DIP Switches or iView 2 Management. Fiber Loopback An ana log Loopb ack at th e copper po rt back to t he fib er por t.
Fault Loopback This switch enables or disables the Fault Loopback feature on the copper port. A normal copper line LOS fault will cause a Rem ote Alarm Indict or (RAI) to be sent on to the fiber line segment causing the n ormal AIS to be sent on the far en d copper port.
T1, E1 and J1 Selecti on This switch selects the data r ate to use on the copper line. The data rate selections available include the following: • T1/J1 (1.544 Mbps +/- 32 ppm) • E1 (2.04 8 Mbps +/- 32 ppm) By def ault this feature is set to T1.
LED Operation The IE-iMcV-T1/E1/J1-LineTerm, TP/S FP module features seve ral diagnostic LEDs per port. The following L ED display function s are provid ed: Copper P ort LEDs ER Flashes yellow whe never a line code violation is received. LOS Glows red whe n the R J-48 is receiving n o signal and is in an LOS ALARM state.
Loopback Tes ting The IE-iMcV-T1 /E1/J1-LineTerm , TP/SFP incl udes three Loopback test m odes: Copper Loopback, Fibe r Loopback and I nternal Fiber Loopback.
Pseud orandom Bit Sequence (PRB S) Testing To test usin g PRBS, con figure the IE-i McV- T1/ E1/J1 -LineTerm, TP/SFP m odules for No Loopback , and then confi gure th e Transmit Copper Dat a Source to P RBS. Config ure the lo cal device f or Loop back and st art the te st.
