Hybrid S ystem Overview Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid ® System ............................... Hybrid System-2 Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery ............... Hybrid System-2 High voltage cautions ...................... Hybrid System-2 Road accident cautions.
Hybrid System-2 Hybrid System Overview The INFINITI Direct Response Hybrid ® System combines the power of a gasoline engine and an electric motor to help minimize fuel consumption and emissions. Depending on driving conditions, the vehicle runs on a combination of the gasoline engine and the electric motor, whichever is best for those conditions.
WARNING In case of a collision: . If your vehicle is drivable, pull your vehicle off the road, put the transmis- sion in the P (Park) position, apply the parking brake and turn the INFINITI Direct Response Hybrid ® System off. . Check to see if there are exposed high voltage parts and cables.
Hybrid System-4 Hybrid System Overview The emergency shut-off system is activated and the high-voltage system automatically turns off in the following conditions: . Front and side collisions in which the air bags are deployed. . Certain rear collisions.
RAPID AC CELERA TION The vehicle is accelerated using both the gasoline engine and the electric motor depending on the available Li-ion batter y charge. DECELERA TION AND BRAKING The Li-ion battery is charged by the electric motor that changes the energy of the rotating wheels into electric power.
Hybrid System-6 Hybrid System Overview JVO0111X All-Wheel Drive (AWD) models If you use the system with the hybrid system off (ignition switch placed in the ACC position) for a long time, it will dischar ge the 12-volt battery power, and the hybrid system will not start.
JVS0246X 1. Push the MENU * 1 button and touch [Information]. 2. Touc h [Fuel Economy History]. JVO0112X The Fuel Economy History displays the vehicle ’ s average fuel consumption and regenerative electric power at 2 minute intervals. The displayed values on the screen in- dicate general driving conditions.
Hybrid System-8 Hybrid System Overview When the vehicle decelerates while the vehicle is driven with the shift lever in the D (Drive) position or in the manual shift mode, the Lithium ion (Li-ion) battery can be charged by the electric motor.
WARNING . If the sound from the VSP system is not heard while driving, stop the vehicle in a safe and quiet location. Open a window, and then place the vehicle in the R (Reverse) position with the brake pedal firmly depressed. Check that the operat- ing sound can be heard from the front side of the vehicle.
Hybrid System-10 Hybrid System Overview JVO0096X 1. Electric motor inverter 2. High voltage harnesses (orange) 3. Lithium ion (Li-ion) battery 4. Electric compressor 5. Electric motor 6. 12-volt battery The hybrid system uses high voltage up to approximately 408 volts.
Lithium ion (Li-ion) battery may be da- maged. If the Li-ion battery is completely discharg ed and the hybrid system cannot be activated, contact an INFINITI retailer.
Hybrid System-12 Hybrid System Overview JVO0006X CAUTION Do not load large amounts of water in open containers (aquariums or buckets) into the vehicle.

5-44 Starting and driving SSD1032 NOTE: If you accelerate from a stop with a vehicle in the detection zone, the other vehicle may not be detected. SSD1033 Overtaking other vehicles The side indicator light illuminates if you overtake a vehicle and that vehicle stays in the detection zone for approximately 3 seconds.
SSD1093 If the BSI system is on and your vehicle approaches a lane marker while another vehicle is in the detection zone, the side indicator light flashes and a chime will sound three times. Then, the BSI system slightly applies the steering to help return the vehicle back to the center of the driving lane.
5-46 Starting and driving SSD1037 Entering from the side The side indicator light illuminates if a vehicle enters the detection zone from either side. NOTE: The radar sensors may not detect a vehicle which is traveling at about the same speed as your vehicle when it enters the detec- tion zone.
SSD1040 NOTE: . The BSI system will not operate if your vehicle is on a lane marker when another vehicle enters the detection zone. In this case only the BSW system operates. . BSI steering assist will not operate or will stop operating and only a warning chime will sound under the following conditions.
