3 Impor tant Operating Consideration s for Safety • Place the pro jector in a horizontal po sition no gr eater than 8 degre es off axis. • Locate the projector in a well-ventilated ar ea without any obstructions to intake or exhaust vents. Do not pl ace the pr ojector on a tablecloth or other soft covering that may block the vents.
4 Intr oduction Y our new multimedia projector pr ovides two computer , three v ideo, and two audio inputs, one audio output, an d RS-232 and Network control. It has XGA 1024x768 r esolution. Optional user-cha ngeable short, fixed short, long and ultra long throw le nses make this a flexible product sui table for many differ ent uses.
5 Connector P anel The pr ojector provides thr ee computer and thr ee video connection options: • one M1-DA (DVI with USB) • one VESA computer • one component RCA vide o (Pr , Pb, Y) • one S-v.
6 P ositioning the pr ojector T o determine wher e to position the proj ector , consider the size and shape of your screen, the location of your po wer outlets, a nd the distance between the projector and the r est of your eq uipment. Here are some general gui de- lines: • Position the pr ojector on a flat surface at a right angle to the screen.
7 Connecting a computer Requir ed computer connections Connect one end of the VESA computer cable to the Computer 2 connector on the projector . Connect the other end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the moni- tor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
8 If you are using a desktop compu ter and want to see the image on your computer scr een as well as on the pr ojection screen, plug the monitor cable to the Monitor out connecto r on the projector .
9 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch on the back of the projector to the on (I) position. The Power light on the Status Indi cator Panel (pag e 14) lights green. Press the Po w e r button on the top of the projector or the r emote.
10 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of the projector , if necessary , by pressing the release but- tons on each side of the pr ojector ’s front to extend the e levator feet. Position the projector the desir ed distance from the scr een at a 90 degree angle (perpendicular) to the scr een.
11 Connecting a video de vice Standard video connections Plug the audio/video (A/V) cable’s yellow connector into the video-out connector on the video device.
12 Displa ying a video image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch on the back of the projector to the on (I) position. The Power light on the Status Indi cator Panel (pag e 14) lights green. Press the Po w e r button on the top of the projector or the r emote.
13 Adjust the zoom or fo cus by rotating the Zoom or Focus rings inside the lens door unti l the desired imag e size and focus are produced. If the image is not on the screen or v iewing area, adjust it by using the lens shift dials insi de the lens door .
14 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector automatically blanks the scr een after no active source is detected for 5 minutes. This blank screen helps pre serve the life of the pro- jector . The image returns wh en an active sour ce is detected or a remote or keypad button is pressed.

24 Optimizing video imag es After the video device is connected prop erly and the image is on the screen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. 25 Using the menus T o open the menus, pres s the me nu button on the keypad or remote. (T he menus automatically close after 60 seconds if no buttons ar e pressed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow bu ttons to move up and down to high- light the des ired submenu, then press the Select button.

27 Presets : The pr ovided Presets optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter presentations, phot ographs , film images, and video images. (Film input is material originally captu red on a film camera, like a mo vie; video input is material originally captu red on a video came ra, like a TV show or sporting event.
28 Advanced settings Sharpness : changes the clarity of the edges of a video image. Select a sharp- ness setting. Color Space : This option applies to computer and component video sources (exce pt 480i/576i). It allows you to select a color space that has bee n specifically tuned for the input sign al .
29 Settings menu Audio : allows adjustments to the V olume. Also allows you to turn on and off the Internal speakers, and pr ojector startup Chime. Sour ces : allows you to assign a particular input to a specific source key when using the Integrator r emote.
30 Po w e r S a v e : automatically turns the lamp of f after no signals are detected for 20 minutes. After 10 addi tional minutes with no signal, the projector powers down. If an active signal is received befo re the projec- tor powers down, the image will be displayed .
31 Custom K ey (for use with optional r emote on ly): allows you to assign a dif- ferent function to the Custom key on the optional remote to quickly and easily use the ef fect. Only one ef fect can be enabled at a time. T he default is Sour ce Info; highlight an e ffect and pr ess Select to choose a differ ent one.
32 Language : allows you to select a language for the onscreen displa y of menus and messages. Ser vice : to use these features, hi ghlight them and press Select . Factory Reset : restor es all settings (except Lamp and Filter Hours and Net- work settings) to their default after di splaying a confirmation dialog box.
33 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abrasive camera lens cleaner to a s oft, dry cloth. A void using an excessive amount of cleaner , and don’t apply the cleaner directly to the lens. Abrasive cleaners, solvents or other harsh chemicals might scratch the lens.
34 Replacing the pr ojection lamp The lamp hour timer in the Service I nfo menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use. T wenty ho urs before the specified end of the lamp’s life, the message “Change lamp ” briefly appears on the projected screen.
35 4 Loosen the three captive scr ews (m arked by the arrows) on the lamp module. 5 Carefully remove the lamp module by grasping and lifting the handl e. Dispose of the lamp in an en vironmentally proper manner . 6 Install the new lamp m odule, making sure that it i s properly seated, and tighten the thre e captive screws.
