6 Connecting a computer Required compute r connection s Connect the black end of the computer cable to the Compute r in connec tor on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the v ideo (VGA) port on your com- puter .

When th e lamp comes on, the startup screen is displayed and the LED i s steady gr een.
8 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes the project or as “new h ardwar e” and the Add Ne w H a rd wa re Wiz ard ap p e a rs .

Position the projector the d esired distance fr om the scr een at a 90 degree angle to the screen. See pa ge 38 for a table li sting scr een s izes an d dist ances .

23 Using the remote contr ol The r emote uses two (2 ) prov ided AAA batt eries. They a re easily installe d by slidi ng th e cover of f the remot e’s bac k, aligni ng the + and - ends of the batteries , slidin g them int o place, and then replac ing the cov er .
24 Using the audio T o play sound from the project or , con nec t your source to the Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, use the buttons on the keypad. T roubleshoo tin g audio If there is no sound, check the follow ing: • Make sur e the au dio cable is connected.
25 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly a nd the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can opt imize the image using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 27 . • Adju st t he Key ston e, Co ntra st, or Bri ght ness in the Pictu re menu.

27 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the Menu button on th e keypad. (The menu s auto- matica lly close aft er 60 seco nds if no buttons a re pr essed.) Th e Main m enu appears. Use the arrow butto ns to move up and do wn to h ighl ight th e desir ed submen u, then pr ess the Sele ct button.

30 Advanced menu Sharpness : (video sources only) change s the clari ty of the edge s of a vide o image. Select a s harpness s ettin g. Color S pace : (computer sources onl y) allows you to select a c olor space that ha s been spec ifically tu ned for th e input.

34 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-ab rasive c amera lens clea ner to a soft, dry c loth. A void using an excessive a mount of c leaner , an d don’t a pply the cleaner direc tly to the lens. A brasive c leaners, solvents or other h arsh chemic als migh t scra tch the lens.
35 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use. Fifty h ours before the specified end of the lamp’s life, the message “ Replace lamp” bri efly appears on the screen at each star tup and in the Inte ractive Di splay .
