10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS The machine ′ s vibration damping system reduces the tr ansfer of vibration between the engine unit/cutting equipment and the machine ′ s handle unit. The body of the chain saw , including the cutting equipment, is insulated from the handles by vibr ation damping units.
English – 11 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS • Keep the chain pr operly tensioned! If the chain is slack it is more likely to jump off and lead to increased w ear on the bar , chain and drive sproc ket.
12 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Sharpening y our chain and adjusting depth gauge setting General information on sharpening cutting teeth • Ne ver use a b lunt chain. When the chain is blunt y ou hav e to e xert more pressure to force the bar through the wood and the chips will be very small.
English – 13 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Adjustment of depth gauge setting • The cutting teeth should be newly sharpened before adjusting the depth gauge setting. W e recommend that you adjust the depth gauge setting e v er y third time you shar pen the cutting teeth.
14 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Filling with chain oil • All our chain saws ha ve an automatic chain lubrication system. On some models the oil flo w is also adjustable. • The saw chain oil tank and the fuel tank are designed so that the fuel runs out before the sa w chain oil.
English – 15 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Bar Check regularly: • Whether there are burrs on the edges of the bar . Remove these with a file if necessar y . • Whether the groov e in the bar has become badly worn. Replace the bar if necessar y . • Whether the tip of the bar is une ven or badly worn.

English – 17 ASSEMBL Y Remo v e the knob and remov e the clutch cov er (chain brake). T ake off the transpor tation ring.(A) Fit the bar ov er the bar bolts. Place the bar in its rearmost position. Place the chain o ver the drive sproc ket locate it in the groov e on the bar .
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of gasoline and two- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
English – 19 FUEL HANDLING Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mixed b y shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
20 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake should be activ ated when star ting the chain saw . Activate the chain br ake by pushing the front hand guard f orwards. Ignition; choke (A): Pull out the b lue choke control to the choke position.
English – 21 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING As the chain brak e is still activated the engine m ust retur n to idling speed as soon as possible b y disengaging the throttle latch in order to av oid unnecesser y wear on the clutch assembly .
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain br ake works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 6 Bef ore moving your chain sa w switch off the engine and lock the chain using the chain br ake. Carr y the chain saw with the bar and chain pointing backw ards. Fit a guard to the bar bef ore transpor ting the chain saw or carrying it for any distance .
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 8 Unless the user resists this pushing f orce there is a r isk that the chain saw will mo ve so f ar backw ards that only the kickbac k zone of the bar is in contact with the tree, which can lead to a kickbac k. Cutting with the bottom edge of the bar , i.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Limbing When limbing thic k branches you should use the same approach as f or cutting. Cut difficult branches piece b y piece. Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs , each log you attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a sa w horse or r unners and cut individually .
26 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES T ree felling tec hnique Safe distance The saf e distance between a tree that is to be f elled and any one else working nearby is at least 2 1/2 tree lengths. Make sure that no-one else is in this ”risk zone” bef ore or during felling.
English – 27 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Felling F elling is done using three cuts. First y ou make the directional cuts, which consist of the top cut and the bottom cut, then y ou finish with the f elling cut. By placing these cuts correctly you can control the f elling direction very accurately .
28 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES W e recommend that you use a bar that is longer than the diameter of the tree, so that y ou can make the f elling cut and directional cuts with single cutting strokes . See instructions under the heading T echnical data section to find out which lengths of bar are recommended f or your saw .
English – 29 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES How to a v oid kic kback What is kic kback? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , kno wn as the kickback zone , touches an object.
30 – English MAINTENANCE General The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual. More e xtensive work must be carried out by an authorised ser vice workshop .
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Correctly adjusted carb uretor When the carb uretor is correctly adjusted the machine accelerates without hesitation and the machine 4-cycles a little at max. speed. It is also impor tant that the chain does not rotate at idle.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Thr ottle lock out • Make sure the throttle control is loc ked at the idle setting when the throttle lock out is released. • Press the throttle lock out and make sure it returns to its original position when you release it.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE Muffler Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. Some mufflers are equipped with a special spark arrestor screen. If y our machine has this type of muffler , you should clean the screen at least once a week.
34 – English MAINTENANCE T ensioning the recoil spring • Hook the star ter cord in the notch in the pulley and turn the star ter pulley about 2 turns clockwise . Note! Check that the pulle y can be tur ned an additional 1/ 2 turn when the star ter cord is pulled all the way out.
English – 35 MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil). • A dir ty air filter . These f actors cause deposits on the spar k plug electrodes, which ma y result in operating problems and starting difficulties.

Dir t and dust is pushed out by the cooling f an. IMPOR T ANT! In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning system it must be regularly maintained.
