6 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or man ual searching to tune into a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band. 1 Press SOURCE (A TT) to select the tuner as the source.
7 ENGLISH Searching a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band. 1 Press SOURCE (A TT) to select the tuner as the source. 2 Press BAND to select the band (FM1, FM2, FM3 or AM). Note: This receiver has thr ee FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3). Y ou can use any one of them to listen to an FM br oadcast.

16 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference . 1 Select the item you w ant to adjust. Each time y ou press the button, the adjustab le items change as follows: Indication T o do: Range BASS Adjust the bass.
ENGLISH 17 T ur ning on/off the BBE II function The BBE II * function restores the br illiance and clar ity of the original live sound in recording, broadcasts, etc. When a speaker reproduces sound, it introduces frequency-dependent phase shifting, causing high-frequency sounds to take longer to reach the ear than lo w frequency sounds.
18 ENGLISH Using the Sound Contr ol Memory Y ou can select and store a preset sound adjustment suitable for each pla yback source . ( Adv anced SCM ) Selecting and storing the sound modes Once y ou select a sound mode , it is stored in memory , and will be recalled e very time you select the same source.
ENGLISH 19 Recalling the sound modes Select the source while the “Link” indicator is lit on the displa y . The “Link” indicator starts flashing, and the sound mode stored in memor y f or the selected source is recalled (and appears on the displa y for a while).
20 ENGLISH Storing y our own sound adjustments Y ou can adjust the sound modes (SCM BEA T , SCM SOFT , SCM POP: see page 18) to y our pref erence and store your o wn adjustments in memor y . 1 Light “MODE” on the lower par t of the displa y . 21 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Setting the clock 1 2 1 2 1 Press and hold SEL (Select) f or more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the displa y . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “CLOCK HOUR” if not sho wn on the displa y . 2 Adjust the hour .
22 ENGLISH Y ou can select the proper cruise mode for your car . This unit changes the v olume lev el automatically (at 3 possible lev els) based on the driving speed of y our car by detecting the alternator’s gener ating frequency (Audio Cruise). If you w ant to use this mode, f ollow the procedure below .
23 ENGLISH When this function is turned on (the CR UISE indicator lights up on the displa y), the proper volume le vel is automatically selected among the 3 possible le vels according to the driving speed, and the selected level is sho wn on the display .

26 ENGLISH T o cancel Advanced SCM Y ou can cancel the Adv anced SCM (Sound Control Memory), and unlink the sound modes and the pla yback sources When shipped from the factory , a different sound mode can be stored in memor y f or each source so that you can change the sound modes simply b y changing the sources.
27 ENGLISH T o select the scr oll mode Y ou can select the scroll mode f or the disc infor mation if it consists of more than 10 characters . When shipped from the factory , A uto Scroll mode is set to “ONCE. ” • ONCE: Scrolls only once. • AUT O: Repeats the scroll (in 5-second inter vals).
28 ENGLISH Assigning names to the sour ces Y ou can assign names to station frequencies and CDs . After assigning a name , it will appear on the displa y when you select the source .
29 ENGLISH 4 Mov e the cursor to the ne xt (or previous) char acter position. 5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 until y ou finish inputting the name. 6 Press the b utton while the last selected character is flashing. The input name is stored in memory . T o erase the input characters Inser t spaces using the same procedure described above.
30 ENGLISH REMOTE OPERA TIONS Bef ore using the remote controller : • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not e xpose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or artificial lighting).

How to handle CDs When removing a CD from its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the CD out, holding it by the edges.
