8 EN PREP ARA TION FOR USE • Unplug the A C pow er cord from the A C sock et bef ore connecting or disconnecting any component. Use speak ers with an impedance of 6 ohms or more, as low er impedance speakers can damage the unit.

10 EN Demo mode When the A C power cord is first connected, the unit will enter the demonstration mode. T o cancel the demonstration mode : Press the EX.B A SS/DEMO but ton. • The demonstration mode will be cancelled and the unit will be in the low po wer consumption mode.
11 EN SETTING THE CLOCK In this example, the cloc k is set for the 1 2 hours (AM 1 2:00) system. 1 Press the PO WER / ON/ST ANDB Y but ton to enter the standby mode. 2 Press the CLOCK but ton. 3 W ithin 5 seconds, press the MEMOR Y/SE T but ton. 4 Press the TUNING/TIME ( % UP or fi D O WN) but- ton to select the time display mode.

17 EN Progr am Pla yback Y ou can playbac k the trac ks on the CDs in the disc 1 -3 position in any order desired. By specifying the disc numbers from 1 to 3, and the trac k numbers from 1 to 99, you can c hoose up to 32 selections for pla ybac k in the order y ou like.

19 EN Preset t uning Y ou can store up to 40 stations in memor y (40 sta- tions consisting of any combination of FM and AM stations you like) and recall them at the push of a but ton. T o enter stations into memory : 1 P erf orm steps 1 - 6 in the “T uning” section (page 1 8).
20 EN Preset memory scan The stations sav ed in the preset memor y can be scanned automatically . 1 T o scan the preset stations, press the P . CALL ( 4 1 or ¡ ¢ ) but ton for more than 0.5 second. • The station preset number will flash and the pro- grammed stations will be tuned in sequentially , for 5 seconds eac h.

26 EN Sleep oper ation The radio, compact disc and casset te deck can all be t urned of f automatically . 1 Play bac k the desired sound source. 2 Press the TIMER button repeatedly until “ ” is display ed. T o change the sleep time : Whilst the sleep time is display ed, press the TUNING/TIME ( % UP or fi D O WN) but ton to adjust the time.
27 EN USING EXTERNAL UNITS Video/A uxiliary (A udio signal) input T o listen to or record signals from external sources through this unit : 1 Use a separately av ailable RCA cord to connect the desired external unit to the VIDEO/A UX soc kets.
28 EN RESETTING THE MICROCOMPUTER Reset the microcomputer under the f ollowing con- ditions : • T o erase all of the stored memor y contents (cloc k and timer set tings, and t uner and CD presets). • If the display is not correct. • If the operation is not correct.
