3 1 BEFORE WASHING THE FIRST TIME CAUTION WITH CER T AIN MA TERIALS Always check and adhere to recommended washing marking on the items concerned. If no recommendations are given, refer to those in chapter 8, Before washing. TRANSPORT SUPPORTS Are the transport supports removed? If not, see the Installation instructions.
4 OVERFILL PROTECTION If the level of water in the machine rises above normal, the overfill protection will start to pump out water and shut off the water supply .
5 TRANSPORT/ WINTER STORAGE If the machine is to be transported, or stored in unheated premises where the temperature can fall below freezing point, you should proceed as follows: • Empty the coin trap and the drain pump; see Chapter 12, Care - Cleaning.
6 CHILD-SAFE W ASHING Always close the washer door and start the pro- gramme immediately after filling the detergent. Do not allow children to play with the wash- ing machine. PROTECT CHILDREN Keep detergents and conditioner out of the reach of children.

9 RECOMMENDED W ASHING MARKING Check the recommended washing marking on garments. The table below gives useful informa- tion on suitable washing programmes for diffe- rent materials and amounts of washing.
10 Wool and silk W ool and silk are sometimes marked machine wash, and sometimes hand wash. The W ool and Hand programmes of the machine are at least as gentle as washing by hand. W ool is particularly sensitive to mechanical processing. If you wish to avoid spin drying, you can press out the water instead using terry towelling.
11 DETERGENTS Overdosing detergent will not give better re- sults, it only increases the burden on the envi- ronment. T r y using less detergent, and incr ease the dose only if you are displeased with the washing re- sults. TEXTILE DYEING If you want to dye fabrics in the machine, select Normal with the Super rinse option.
12 9 WASHING W ASHING WITH EASY CONTROL Easy washing by pushing a few buttons Y our washing machine works like a radio with pre-set tuning. Instead of radio stations, howe- ver , you select your preferr ed washing pr ogram- me in this case. W e have preset the P1 - P4 buttons with four common programmes.
13 The following step-by-step instructions are pro- vided to help you to achieve the best possible washing result. SOR T THE W ASHING For tips and advice, see Chapter 8 – Before washing. NOTE Empty the pockets. Coins, nails and similar items can cause damage to the machine.
14 SELECT A PRE-SET PROGRAMME The machine has four pre-set program- mes. Press the button for the desired programme. The pr ogrammes are shown in the table below . Y ou can then easily adjust the T emperature and the Spin speed; see the next step. Y ou can also make permanent alterations (to programmes, settings and options, etc.
15 If you wish to save the change permanently , you can press the Enter button after making the change. Spinning at 400-800 revolutions/minute al- ways means a short spin. It is not possible to select a spin speed higher than 800 revolutions/minute for the Hand pro- gramme.
16 Hold down the Menu button for three se- conds. Within 15 seconds of releasing the but- ton, you must index forward with the Menu but- ton to the new desired setting. Make any alte- rations with and then press Enter . In or der to make an alteration, however , the part of the programme that you wish to alter must not have been activated yet.
17 DELA YED ST AR T (1-24 HOURS) If Delayed start is set to 5 hours, for example, this means that the machine will start the pro- gramme 5 hours after you press the but- ton. If you wish to delay the start of any pro- gramme temporarily , you should proceed as follows before pressing the button: 1.

19 11 MAKING OWN WASHING PROGRAMMES GENERAL W e have preset P1 - P4 with the most com- mon washing programmes. These pr ogrammes usually suit most users. Y ou can adjust the tem- perature and the spin speed temporarily , and you can run a spin or rinse programme tempor- arily without reading this Chapter; see Chapter 9, W ashing.

21 CREA TE YOUR OWN W ASHING PROGRAMME 1. Press one of the buttons P1 - P4 under which you wish to store y our programme. Y ou can select any button you like if you only want to make a temporary programme. 2. Index forward with the Menu button to the setting or option that you wish to change.
22 RESET PROGRAMME If you wish to revert to the settings which a pre- set programme had at the time when the mach- ine was supplied, you can reset the programme. 1. Hold down the programme button (P1-P4) for the programme that you wish to reset. 2. Press the Enter button once.

26 CHECKING THE COIN TRAP AND THE DRAIN PUMP The washing machine has a trap in which coins, hairpins and similar items fasten. Clean the coin trap and the drain pump as follows: 1 . Ensure that the main power switch is turned OFF . 2 . Using the parti- tion piece for liquid detergent, open the drain pump cover as illus- trated.

CLEANING HOLES UNDER THE RIDGES If you suspect that objects, eg, nails, paperclips, pins and so on, have fallen through the washing drum you should check the space underneath the ridges.
28 13 TROUBLE SHOOTING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN 1 . Check that the main switch is ON. 2 . Is the power supply cut off? Check the fuses. The door cannot be opened using the - button if the power supply is broken.

30 CELSIUS OR FAHRENHEIT The temperature is shown in the display either in degrees Celsius or in degrees F ahrenheit. Y ou can change between Celsius and F ahren- heit as follows: T urn off the main power switch and then turn it on again so that the machine is in stand-by mode.
