Black plate (17,1) q Seat W armer í The front seats are electrica lly heated. The ignition switch must be in the ON position. Press the switch to turn the seat warmer on or off. When the switch is in the ON position, the indicator light will come on.
Black plate (18,1) CAUTION l The seat-bottom powe r adjustment is operated by motors. A void extend ed operation because excessive use can damage the motors. l T o prevent the battery from running down, avoid using the powe r adjustment when the engine is stopped.

Black plate (22,1) Height adjustmen t T o rais e a head restraint, pull it up to the desired position. T o low er the head restraint, press the stop- catch release, then push the head restraint down. Adjust the head restraint so that the top is even with the top of the passenger's ears, never the passenge r's neck.
Black plate (23,1) Seat Belt Precautions Seat belts help to d ecrease the possibil ity of severe injury during accidents and sudden stops. Mazda recommends that the driver and all passengers always wear seat belt s. All of the seat belt retr actors are desig ned to keep the lap/shoulder belts out of the way when not in use.
Black plate (24,1) W ARNING One Belt, One Passenger: Using one seat belt for more than one person at a time is dangerous. A seat belt used in this way can't spread the impact forces properly and the two passengers could be crushed together and seriously injured or even killed.
Black plate (25,1) q Emergency Locking Mode In the emergency locking mode, the belt remains comfo rtable on the occupant and the retractor will lock in position during a collision.

Black plate (28,1) Front Seat Belt Pr etensioner and Load Limiting Systems For optimum protection, the driver and front passenger seat belts are equipped with pretensioner and load limiting systems. In moderate or greater frontal or near- frontal accidents, the front air bag and pretensioner systems deploy simultaneously .
Black plate (29,1) W ARNING Pretensioner System Disposa l: Improper disposal of the pretensioner system or a vehicle with no n- deactivated prete nsioners is dangerous.

Black plate (36,1) W ARNING Proper Size of Child-Restraint System: For effective protection in vehicle accidents and sudden stops, a c hild must be properly restrained using a seat belt or child-restrai nt system depending on age and size. If not, the child could be seriously injur ed or even killed in an accident.
Black plate (37,1) W ARNING Front Passenger Seat Position: A front-facing child-restrai nt system should only be put on the front seat when it is unavoidable. Always move the seat as far back as possible, because the force of a deploying air bag could cause serious injury or death to the child.

Gases are produced to inflate the front air bags and after the infl ation, the front air bags quickly deflate.

Black plate (95,1) q Locking, Unlocking with T ransmitter (with Advanced Key) The doors can be locked/unlock ed by operating the keyles s entry system transmitter, refer to Keyless Entry System (page 3-13).
Black plate (96,1) Locking, unlocking with key All doors and the trunk lid lock automatically when the driver's door is locked with the key . Al l doors and the trunk lid unlock when the driver's door is unlocked and the key is held in the unlock position for one second or longer .
Black plate (97,1) q Rear Door Child Safety Locks These locks are intended to help prevent children from accidentally opening the rear doors. Use them both whenever a child rides in the vehicle. If you slide the child safety lock to the lock position before c losing that door, the door cannot be opened from the inside.

Black plate (99,1) Opening the trunk lid Pull up on the handle. Closing the trunk lid Grasp the inner handle and pull the trunk lid down, then push the trunk lid down until it locks securely . Be careful not to slam it. Pull up on the trunk lid to make sure it is secured.

Black plate (102,1) q Opening the T runk Lid from the Inside Slide the inside trunk release lever in the direction of the arrow . The lever is made of material that will glow for hours in the darkness of the trunk following a brief exposure to ambient light.
Black plate (103,1) q Operating the Power Windows NOTE l Each passenger window can be operated with each door switch when the power window lock switch on the driver's door is in the unlocked position (page 3-38). l Each passenger window can also be operated by the power window master control swi tches on the driver's door .

Re- initialization of the automatic funct ion on each passenger window cannot be performed using the master control switches.
