Black plate (26,1) q Armrest The rear armrest in the center of the rear seatback can be used (no occupant in the center seat) or placed upright. Head Restraints Head restraints are intended to help protect you and the passengers from neck injury .
Black plate (27,1) Rear seat Removal/Installat ion T o remo ve the head restraint, pull it up while pressing the stop-catch. T o install the head restraint, press the uprights into the holes while pressing the stop-catch.
Black plate (28,1) NOTE l The active head restraints operate in a r ear-end collision. The head r estraints r eturn to their original position after the collision. l The method for adjusting the active head r estraints is the same as a normal head r estraint.
Black plate (29,1) WARNING Ø Be careful when using the seat warmer. The heat from the seat warmer may be too hot for some people, as ind icated belo w, and could cause a low-temperature burn.
Black plate (30,1) Seat Belt Precautions Seat belts help to decrease the possibility of severe injury during acciden ts and sudden stops. Mazda recommends that the driver and all passengers always wear seat belts. All of the seat belt retractors are designed to keep the lap/shoulder belts out of the way when not in use.
Black plate (31,1) WARNING Always wear your seat belt and ma ke sure all occu pants are properly restrained: Not wearing a seat belt is extremely dangerous. During a collis ion, occupa nts not wearing seat belts could hit someone or things ins ide the veh icle or even be thrown out of the vehicle .
Black plate (32,1) CAUTION Belt retraction may become diffic ult if the belts and rings are soiled, so try to keep them clean. For more details about cleaning the seat belts, refer to “ Cleaning the Lap/Shoulder Belt Webbing ” (page 8-60).

T o enable seat belt automatic locki ng mode, pull it all the way out and connect it as instructed on the child-restrai nt system.

Black plate (36,1) Front Seat Belt Pr etensioner and Load Limiting Systems For optimum protection, the driver and front passenger seat belts are equipp ed with pretensioner and load limiting systems. For both these syst ems to work properly you must wear the seat belt properly .
Black plate (37,1) Do not modify the components or wiring, or use elect ronic testing devic es on the pretensioner system: Modifying the componen ts or wiring of the pretensioner system, including the use of electronic testing devices is dangerous.
Black plate (38,1) q Air Bag/Front Seat Belt Pretensioner System W arning Beep If a malfunction is detected in the air bag/ front seat belt pretensioner systems and the warning light, a warning beep sound will be heard for about 5 seconds every minute.
Black plate (39,1) WARNING Do not use a seat belt extender unless it is necessar y: Using a seat belt extender when not necessary is dangerous. The sea t belt will be too long and not fit properly. In an accident, the seat belt will not provide adequate protection and you could be seriously injured.

Black plate (1 10,1) q Rear Door Child Safety Locks These locks are intended to help prevent children from accide ntally opening the rear doors. Use them both whenever a child rides in the vehicle. If you slide the child safety lock to the lock position before c losing that door, the door cannot be opened from the inside.
