W arning and Safety instructions 11 Correct installation Refer to the cooker or hob manufactur er's instructions as to whether a cooker hood may be oper ated above the cooker/hob. Safety regulations pr ohibit the fitting of a cooker hood over solid fuel stoves.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 Accessories Only use genuine original Miele accessories with this appliance. Using accessories from other manufactur ers will invalidate the guar antee, and Miele cannot accept liability .
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing material The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hood, the following options are available: Air extr action The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filt ers and directed outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o prevent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication facility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facility the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the cooker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for example you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode temporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manually select a different power level, or Manually switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have temporarily deactivat ed Con@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 P ower management The cooker hood features a power management system for switching off the lighting and reducing the fan power level automatically . – If the Intensive setting has been selected the cooker hood will automatically switch down to power level 3 after 5 minutes.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 23 Operating hours count er The number of hours the appliance has been in operation is st ored in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol , lights up, the operating hours count er is signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.

Cleaning and care 25 Housing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susceptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All ext ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 26 Cleaning interval The grease filt ers should be cleaned regularly (at least every 3 - 4 weeks) to avoid a build-up of grease. Clean them immediately if the Gr ease filter oper ating hours symbol lights up.
Cleaning and care 27 After cleaning After cleaning, leave the filters t o dry on an absorbent surface before replacing them. When removing the filt ers for cleaning, also clean off any residues of oil or fat from the now accessible housing to pr event the risk of these catching fire.

Installation 34 Installation recommendations – When deciding on the safety distance between the hob and cooker hood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cookers/hobs may be prefer able to give more working space under the hood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the hood most often.
Connection for air e xtraction 35 Before installation, it is important to r ead the information given on the following pages as well as the "Appliance dimensions" and the "Warning and Safety instructions" at the beginning of this booklet.

Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting, we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to collect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur .
Connection for air e xtraction 37 Air extr action with external motor T o minimise noise from the mot or in the kitchen, the silencer should be positioned in front of the e xternal motor if possible, or , if the ducting is long, above the exhaust connection inside the hood .
Electrical connection 38 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 39 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 function, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Please read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
