GB - 5 1. W A RNING! 2. DANGER! 3. DANGER! Safety Rules Read, understand, and follow al l safety practices in Owner/Operator Manual before beginning assembly or operating. Failure to follow instructions could result in personal injury and/or d amage to unit.
GB - 6 Keep children and people away . Keep children out of work area and under watchful care of a responsible adult. NEVER allow children to operate or play on or near unit. Be alert and shut off uni t if children enter area. DO NOT allow adults to operate unit without proper training.
GB - 7 Before cleaning, rem oving clogs or ma king any inspections, repa irs, etc.: disengage clutch(es), stop unit and engine, remove key , allow moving parts to stop. A llow hot parts to cool. Run unit a few minutes af ter clearing snow to prevent freeze-up of attachment.

GB - 10 NOTE: Do not remove the pin installed on the chute rod. NOTE: T o ensure the discharge chute follows its full range of travel, make sure the control lever is pushed all the way t o the lef t before installing and pinning the chute rod.

GB - 15 Controls AND FEA TURES See CONTROLS and FEA T URES on page 13 for all Controls and Features locations. Dual Handle Interlock When Attachment Clutch and t hen T raction Drive Clutch are engaged, the Attachment Clutch will remain engaged (leve r down) if released.
GB - 16 IMPORT ANT : DO NOT change mo tion from forward to revers e with clutch engaged. Forward speed can be changed without declutching. Choke Control Knob 1.Choke Closed position: chokes off air to engine for easier start. 2.Choke Open position: allows for normal operation.
GB - 17 Discharge Chute Discharge chute rotates 200°. AL WA Y S position discharge chute in safe direction and angle, away from operator and bystanders, before starting engine.
GB - 18 Axle Lo ck Pin (9210 01) (Figure 20) Use the axle lock pin to lock or unlock the right or left wheel. Lock both wheels to increase traction; unlock one wheel to allow for easier turning of the unit. NOTE: Unit will not drive wit h both wheels unlocked.
GB - 19 5. Fill fuel tank t o within 1/2 in. (1.2 cm) below bottom of filler neck with unleaded gasoline. NOTE: T ank capacity is 1 gallon (3.8 liters). 6. Replace Fuel Cap and tighten. 7. AL WA YS clean up any spilled fuel. Pre-Start 1. Frozen Impelle r IMPORT ANT : Be fore starting engine, check impeller to be sure it is not frozen.
GB - 20 7. Grasp starter handle and pull rop e out slowly until it pulls ha rder . Let rope rewind slowly . 8. Pull rope with a rapi d continuous full arm stroke. Let rope rewind slowly . IMPORT ANT : DO NOT let S tarter Handle snap against S tarter .
GB - 21 Ariens Dealers will provide any service or adjustments which may be required to keep your unit operating at peak efficiency . Should engine service be required, contact an Ariens dealer or an auth orized engine manufacturer's service center .
GB - 22 If clutches do not engage or disengage properly , adjust or repa ir before operation. See Attachment Clutch/Brak e Adjustment on page 27 and T racti on Drive Clutch Adjustmen t on p age 30. Clean Engine Refer to Engine Manual f or detailed instructions.
GB - 23 General Lubrication IMPORT ANT : Wipe each fitting clean before and after lubrication. Do not wipe gea rcase filler plug; wiping the gearcase filler pl ug may remove thread sealant and cause leaks . IMPORT ANT : DO NOT allow grease or oil to get on friction disc, f riction plate or belt s.
GB - 24 Scrape r Blade IMPORT ANT : Damage to auger/impeller housing will result if blade wears down too far. Scraper blade is adjustable to compensate for wear . T o adjust scraper blade: 1. T i p unit back onto ha ndlebar , sup port housing and loosen nuts ret aining blade.
GB - 25 5. Check function of remote wheel lock. If wheel lock does not function properly , remove bot tom cover to check cable slack. 6. Repeat steps 2 – 4 while wat ching cable to remove slack. 7. Check function of remote wheel lock. If wheel lock does not function properly , take the unit to Dealer for repairs.
GB - 26 If chute does not rot ate freely: T ighten the cable by loosening the upper adjustment nut, and then tightening the lower adjustment nut against the bracket (Figure 30). Dischar ge Chute Defl ector (92100 1) Deflector must stay in selected position while blowing snow .
GB - 27 Speed Selector Adjustment T o adjust (Figure 3 3): 1. Disconnect adjustment pivot pin from speed selector lever by removing hair pin. 2. Place the speed selector in the fastest forward spe ed position. 3. T urn the speed selector lever s traight down towards the ground as far as it will go.
GB - 28 3. With the attachment clutch disengaged, check that the attachment idler arm lightly touches the frame. See Figure 35. 4. T ighten jam nut on the adjustment barrel. Check Att achment Idl er Arm Roller Clearance 1. Place the unit into t he service position.
GB - 29 2. Adjust attachment idler position. See Figure 38. a. Loosen idler adjustment n ut. b. T o increase spring extension, move idler closer to belt s and tighten adjustment nut. Return to S tep 1. c. T o decrease spring ext ension, move idler aw ay from belts and tighten adjustment nut.
GB - 30 2. If there is less than 1/16 in. (1 .6 mm) gap between brake pad and belts, follow these steps: a. T o increase brake pad gap, loosen idler adjustment nut, and move idler aw ay from belt. Position idler to achieve a 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) minimum brake pad gap and a 1/2 in.
GB - 31 4. T o adjust traction clutch (Figure 42): a. With the traction drive clutch lever disengaged, loosen the jam nut on the cable adjuster. b. Turn the adjuster body up the cable to decrease the distance between the clutch lever and handlebar . c.
GB - 32 IMPORT ANT : If traction clutch cannot be adjusted within specif ied range, see your Dealer for repairs. Att achment Drive Belt Replacement Remove old att achment drive bel t s: 1. Shut off engine, remove key , disconnect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely .
GB - 33 5. Check adjustment. See Attachment Clutch/Brake A djustment on page 27 6. Reconnect chute crank and sec ure with spring clip. R econnect chute lock cable and deflector ca ble. 7. Replace belt cover. T ract ion Drive B elt Replaceme nt NOTE: Replacement will be easier with housing and frame t ipped apart and bottom cover off.
GB - 34 Friction Di sc Replacemen t 1. Shut off engine, remove key , disconnect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely . 2. Place unit into service position on a level surface. 3. Remove both wheels . 4. Remove bot tom cover by removing six hex bolts.
GB - 35 Short T erm IMPORT ANT : NEVE R spray unit with high pressure wa ter or store unit outdoors . Run with attachment clutch engag ed a few minutes after each use to free unit of any loose or melting snow . Close fuel shut-off valve. Inspect unit for v isible signs of wear , breakage or damag e.
