15 Chapter 2 - Installation Step 1: Assemble the Modem The only assembly required is to mount the feet on the bottom of the modem. Simply peel the four self-adhesive plastic feet off the backing strip and press them into the recesses on the bottom of the modem.

They are so called because each command must be preceded by the characters AT to get the AT tention of the modem. A T commands can be issued only when the modem is in command mode or online command mode.

Command: ENTER Key Values: n/a Description: Press the E NTER (R ETURN ) key to execute most commands.

Use the S command to read or to alter the contents of S-registers (see previous section). With password-protected remote configuration, you can issue A T commands to a remote MT5634ZBA-USB modem for maintenance or troubleshooting as if you were on-site.

42 MultiModem USB User Guide Introduction Y our modem was thoroughly tested at the factory before it was shipped. If you are unable to make a successful connection, or if you experience data loss or garbled characters during your connection, it is possible that the modem is defective.
43 Chapter 5 - T roubleshooting The Modem Dials But Cannot Connect There can be several reasons the ZBA fails to make a connection. Possibilities include • lack of a physical connection to the telephone line. • a wrong dial tone. • a busy signal.
44 MultiModem USB User Guide The Modem Disconnects While Online • If you have Call W aiting on the same phone line as your modem, it can interrupt your connection when someone tries to call you. If you have Call W aiting, disable it before each call.

51 Appendixes Appendix C: Loopback T ests Introduction Each time you turn on your modem, it performs an automatic self-test to ensure proper operation. Y our modem also has three diagnostic tests: local analog loopback, remote digital loopback, and local digital loopback.

Then type either A T&T or AT H to return to command mode. 6. Y our modem passes this test if the data received on your monitor are the same as the data entered from your keyboard.
