FIREPLACE CLEARANCES (ZC) The fireplace may be placed directly on a combustible floor, against a combustible wall at marked clearances, or on a raised wooden platform. If the fireplace is to be installed on a raised wooden platform, the platform m ust be a continuous level surface.
FINISHING YOUR FIREPLACE (ZC) There is a wide variety of finishing material available for your fireplace from formal wall treatments with m arble and mantels, to rustic wood paneling, stone or brick. Non- combustible materials used in this insta llation such as slate, tile, marble, etc.

When choosing the right location for your he ater and wooden surround (mantel) keep the following in mind: NOTE: Due to high temp eratures, this heat er should be located out of traffic areas and away from furniture and draperies.

DETERMINING FRESH-AIR FLOW FOR HEA TER LOCA TION DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE A CONF INED OR UNCONFINED SPACE Use this worksheet to determine if you have confined or unconfined space. SPACE: Includes the room in which you will in st all heater plus adjoining room s with doorless passageways or ventilati on grills between the rooms.
VENTILA TION AIR VENTILATION AIR FROM INSIDE BUILDING This fresh air would come from an adjoining unconfined sp ace. When venting to an adjoining space, you must provide two permanent openings: one wit hin 12" of the ceiling and one within 12" of t he floor on the wall connecting the two spaces.
VENTILA TION AIR FROM OUTDOORS Provide extra fresh air by using ventilation gri lls or ducts. You must provide two perm anent openings: one within 12" of the ceiling and one w ithin 12" of the floor. Connect these items directly to the outdoors.

PLACEMENT OF LOGS FOR FP-42-ZC DX 2733 Open the carton containing the logs . The logs are boxed separated: W ARNING: POSITIONING OF LOGS IS VERY CRITICAL 1. POSITION THE MOLDED PART OF L OG SET ONTO BURNER : REAR PART OF LOGS IN REAR LOG HOLDER; FRONT PART OF LOGS IN BETWEEN FRONT TUBE AND GRATES.
NOTE: When operated for the first time, logs may emit a “paper burning” smell. This smell will gra dually diminish and will be totally eliminated after the first few hours of operation. Run the gas logs w ith the flue damper open during this time.

THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION 1. The thermostat control on this heater diffe rs from standard thermostats. Standard thermostats simply turn the burner on and of f. The thermostat used on this heater senses the room temperature and adjusts the amount of gas flow to the burner.

REMOTE CONTROL OR WALL THERMOSTAT NOTE: Knob cannot be turned from “PILOT” to “OFF” unless knob is pushed in slightly. Do not force. 6. Wait (5) five minutes to clear out any gas. Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in the safety in form ation on the reverse side of this label.
* If the pilot will no t stay lit after severa l tries, turn the gas control knob to “OFF” and call your service technician or gas supplier. 11. Turn control knob counterclockwise to “ON”. 12. If using unit without wall thermostat place Au to/Off/Manual switch into the manual position.
MANUAL LIGHTING PROCEDURE 1. If the pilot cannot be lit with the piez o, it can be manually lit with the us e of a paper match and a lighter rod. 2. Open access panel door located at bottom front of the appliance. 3. Place the match in the holder and light.
FLAME CHECK A periodic check of the flames shou ld be made. The pilot flame should always be present when the gas logs are in operation. See Figure 16.
WIRING DIAGRAM NOTE : “If any of the original wire as s upplied with the gas appliance must be replaced, it must be replaced with a wire of at least a 105 o C. temperature rating.” NOTE : Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person.

IMPOR T ANT SAFEGUARDS Although your gas logs are very realistic in appearan ce, it is not a real burning fireplace and must not be used for burning rejected material. • To avoid irreparable damage to the heater or pers onal injury, m atches, paper, garbage, or any other material must not be placed or thrown on top of the logs or into the flames.
