19 T o enable Multi-Streaming, you need to connect a front panel audio cable to the front panel audio header. After restarting your computer, you will nd the “Mixer” tool on your system. Please select “Mixer T oolBox” , click “Enable play - back multi-streaming”, and click “ok”.
20 Chapter 2: Installation This is an EA TX form factor motherboard. Before you install the mother - board, study the conguration of your chassis to ensure that the mother - board ts into it. Pre-installation Precautions T ake note of the following precautions before you install motherboard com - ponents or change any motherboard settings.
21 2.1 Installing the CPU In order to provide the LGA 1 155 CPU sockets more protection and make the installation process easier , ASRock has added a new protection cover on top of the load plate to replace the former PnP caps that were under the load plate.
22 Pin1 alignment key alignment key Pin1 1 155-Pin CPU For proper installation, please ensure to match the two orientation key notches of the CPU with the two alignment keys of the socket. Step 2-3. 23 2.2 Installing the CPU Fan and Heatsink This motherboard is equipped with 1 155-Pin socket that supports Intel 1 155-Pin CPUs. Please adopt the type of heatsink and cooling fan com - pliant with Intel 1 155-Pin CPU to dissipate heat.
24 2.3 Installing Memory Modules (DIMM) This motherboard provides four 240-pin DDR3 (Double Data Rate 3) DIMM slots, and supports Dual Channel Memory T echnology . For dual channel conguration, you always need to install identical (the same brand, speed, size and chip-type) DDR3 DIMM pairs.
25 2.4 Expansion Slots (PCI Express Slots) There are 7 PCI Express slots and 1 mini_PCI Express slot on this moth - erboard. Mini-PCIE Slots: MINI_PCIE1 is used for mini-PCIE cards. PCIE slots: PCIE2, PCIE4 and PCIE6 (PCIE 2.0 x1 slots) are used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards, such as a Gigabit LAN card or SA T A2 cards, etc.
26 Installing an Expansion Card Step 1. Before installing an expansion card, please make sure that the power supply is switched of f or the power cord is unplugged. Please read the documentation of the expansion card and make necessary hardware settings for the card before you start the installation.
27 2.5 Installing Serial SA T A / SA T A2 / SA T A3 Hard Disks STEP 1: Connect the SA T A power cable to the hard disk. STEP 2: Connect one end of the SA T A data cable to the hard disk. STEP 3: Connect the other end of the SA T A data cable to the mother- board’s SAS2 / SA T A2 / SA T A3 connectors.

30 2.7 Installing the System Panel Connect the power switch, reset switch and system status indicator on the chassis to this header according to the pin assignments below . Note the positive and negative pins before connecting the cables. PWRBTN (Power Switch): Connect to the power switch on the chassis front panel.

38 Installing the WiFi + BT Module and ASRock Wi-SB Box Step 1. Prepare the bundled ASRock Wi-SB Box and screws. Step 2. If you have 2.5” HDD/SSDs, you may insert up to two and secure them in ASRock Wi-SB Box with screws. Step 3. Install ASRock Wi-SB Box into the drive bay of the chassis.

41 2.1 1.2 Installing Windows ® 8 64-bit / 7 64-bit / Vista TM 64-bit on a HDD Larger than 2 terabytes (2TB) without RAID This motherboard adopts UEFI BIOS that allows Windows ® OS to be installed on a large size HDD (>2TB).
42 2.1 1.3 Installing Windows ® 8 / 8 64-bit / 7 / 7 64-bit / Vista TM / Vista TM 64-bit with RAID STEP 1: Set Up UEFI. Press <F2> or <Delete> at system POST . Set RAID Mode in UEFI Setup Utility > Advanced > Storage Conguration > SA T A Mode.

47 2.15.1 Installing T wo SLI TM -Ready Graphics Cards Step 1. Insert one graphics card into PCIE1 slot and the other graphics card to PCIE5 slot. Make sure that the cards are properly seated on the slots. Step 2. If required, connect the auxiliary power source to the PCI Express graphics cards.
48 Step 4. Connect a VGA cable or a DVI cable to the monitor connector or the DVI connector of the graphics card that is inserted to PCIE1 slot. St ep 3. Align and insert the ASRock SLI_Bridge_3S Card to the gold - fingers on each graphics card. Make sure the ASRock SLI_ Bridge_3S Card is rmly in place.
49 Step 4. Connect a VGA cable or a DVI cable to the monitor connector or the DVI connector of the graphics card that is inserted to PCIE1 slot. Step 3. Align and insert the ASRock 3-W ay SLI Bridge Card to the gold - ngers on each graphics card. Make sure the ASRock 3-W ay SLI Bridge Card is rmly in place.
50 2.15.3 Driver Installation and Setup Install the graphics card drivers to your system. After that, you can enable the Multi-Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in the NVIDIA ® nView system tray utility . Please follow the below procedures to enable the multi-GPU.

55 2.16.3 Installing Four CrossFireX TM -Ready Graphics Cards Step 1. Insert one graphics card into PCIE1 slot, another graphics card into PCIE3 slot, the third graphics card into PCIE5 slot and the last graphics card into PCIE7 slot. Make sure that the cards are properly seated on the slots.
56 2.16.4 Driver Installation and Setup Step 1. Power on your computer and boot into OS. Step 2. Remove the AMD drivers if you have any VGA drivers installed in your system. The Catalyst Uninstaller is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to in - stallation.

58 2.18 Hot Plug and Hot Swap for Hard Disk Drives This motherboard supports Hot Plug and Hot Swap for SAS2 / SA T A2 / SA T A3 in AHCI / RAID mode. What is Hot Plug and Hot Swap? If the HDDs are NOT set for RAID, it is called “Hot Plug” for the action to insert and remove the HDDs while the system is still powered on and in working condition.
59 Points for attention, before you process Hot Plug / Hot Swap: 1. Without the SA T A 15-pin power connector interface, Hot Plug / Hot Swap cannot be processed.
60 How to Hot Plug / Hot Swap a HDD: Please follow the instructions below to process Hot Plug / Hot Swap. Improper procedures will cause the HDD damage and data loss. Connect the SA T A 15-pin power cable connector ’s (Black) end to the HDD. Connect the SA T A data cable to the HDD.

74 3.4.1 CPU Conguration Intel Hyper Threading T echnology T o enable this feature, a computer system with an Intel processor that supports Hyper-Threading technology and an operating system that includes optimization for this technology such as Microsoft ® Windows ® Vista TM / 7 / 8 is required.
