15 • The 450-1SR MD A is a single MA C MD A with a separa te redundant Ph y (backup Phy port ). Only one Phy port can be acti ve at a ny time. If the acti v e Phy port fails, the redundant Phy port autom a tically becomes the acti ve port. • The 450-1SX MD A is a single PHY MD A.

22 Installing an MD A The Uplink Module slo t on support ed BayStack and Accelar switches can accommodate a single MD A. The connection can be either an RJ-45 10/100B ASE-TX MD A or a fiber ( 100BASE-FX or 1000 B A SE-SX /LX) MD A with an SC or MT -R J connector .

25 1000B ASE-LX Multimode Applications For 1000B AS E-LX multimode applications, the lo ngwa ve gigab it tr ansceiv ers mus t be mode cond itioned externally via a special of fset SMF/MMF patch cord. The o ffset SMF/MMF patch cord allo ws the same transcei ver to be used for both mu ltimode and si ngle-mod e fiber .
