4 2. Prep aration 2.1 Inst alling/Replaci ng the Batteries 1. Remove the battery cover . 1) Push the hook on the bottom of the battery cover . 2) Pull the cover off the main unit. 2. Insert two 1.5V “AAA” alkaline (LR03) batteries as indicated in the battery comp artment and then replace the battery cover .
2. Preparation 5 EN 2.2 Setting the Date and Time 1. Set the monitor to the correct date and time before t aking a measurement for the first time. Press the button. 2. Press the O/I ST ART button to store the setting. Notes: • T o res et the date and time, hold down the button while the power is off.
6 3. Using the Unit 3.1 Applying the W rist Cuff Do not a pply over c lothi ng. 1. Place the wrist cuff over your wris t. 2. Wrap the wrist cuff around your wrist. Make sure that the w rist cuff does not cover the protruding p art of the wrist bone (ulna) on the outside of the wrist.
3. Using the Unit 7 EN 3.2 How to Sit Correctly T o take a measurement, you need to be relaxed and comforta bly seated, under comfortable ro om temperature. No ea ting, smoking or exercising 30 minutes before taking a measurement. • Si t on a chair with yo ur feet flat on the floor.
3. Using the Unit 8 3.3 T a king a Reading Notes: • T o can cel a measurem ent, press th e O/I ST ART button at any time dur ing measuremen t. • Remain still while taking a me asurement. 1. Press the O/I ST ART button. The wrist cuff will start to inflate automatically .
3. Using the Unit 9 EN Important: • Recent research suggests that the following values can be used as a guide to high blood pressure for measurements taken at home. This criteria is for home blood pressure measurement. For professional office blood pressure measurement criteria, please refer to C hapter 6.
3. Using the Unit 10 3.4 Using the Memory Function The monitor automatically stores the result up to 60 sets. It can also calculate an average reading based on the measurements from the last three readings taken within 10 m inutes. I f there are only two readings in m emory for that pe riod, the average will be b ased on two readings .
3. Using the Unit 11 EN T o delete all the values stored in memory When the memory symbol ( ) appears, first press the MEM button. Then w hile holding it down, press the O/I ST ART butt on simult aneously for about 2-3 seconds. Note: Y ou cannot partially delete t he stored readings.
12 4. T roubleshooting and Maintenance 4.1 The Icons and Error Messages Error Display Cause Remedy Irregular or weak pulses are detected. Remove the wrist cuff. W ait 2-3 minutes and then take another measurement. Repeat the steps in section 3.3. If this error continues to appear , contact your doctor .

Carefully read and repeat the steps listed under section 3.3. Movement during measurement. An Er mark with a code/number indicates the device has a hardware failure.
4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance 14 4.2 T roubleshooting Problem Cause Remedy The reading is extremely low (or high). The wrist cuff is not at heart level. Measure while in the correct posture. Refer to section 3.2. The cuff is wrapped snugly around the wrist.
4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance 15 EN The blood pressure is different each time. The reading is extremely low (or high). Blood pressure readings constantly vary with time of day and how relaxed you are. T ake several deep breaths and try to remain relaxed before taking a measurement.
4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance 16 4.3 Maintenance T o protect your unit from damage, please avoid the follo wing: • Subjecting your unit to extreme temperat ures, humidity , or direct sunlight. • W ashing the cuff or exposing the cuff or unit to water .
