48 Internet Fax Features Internet Communication Features Y our machine allows you to transmit documents over the Internet to another Internet Fax, or a PC. The document is first scanned and converted into a TIFF-F , or PDF file, and then transmitted to the remote location as an attachment file to an email using MIME encoding.
49 Internet Fax Features Simple Mail T ransfer Protocol (SMTP) is used to transfer mail reliably and ef ficiently . An important feature of SMTP is its capability to transport mail across networks, usually referred to as SMTP mail relay by employing SMTP server .
50 Internet Fax Features Important Information Y our machine uses the same communication protocols as email: the Simple Mail T ransfer Protocol (SMTP). The differences from a standard G3 fax communication using the Public Switched T elephone Networks (PSTN) are as follows.
