2 System Highlights Calling fr om the outside (Dir ect Inward System Access) System Expansion External callers can call extensions in the system. If you install an optional card, an outgoing message will greet the caller and gi ve information about how to access an extension.

4 Precautions This equipment should be used on PSTN lines requiring 2-wire Loop calling unguarded clearing with Loop Disconnect or DTMF address signalling. The equipment must be connected to direct extension lines and a payphone should not be connected as an extension.
5 Precautions • The apparatus is designed to be installed and operated under controlled conditions of ambient temperature and a relati ve humidity not greater than 60 %. • A void installing the apparatus in damp or humid en vironments, such as bathrooms or swimming pools.

Installation 2-33 2.22 System Restart After starting the system, if the system does not operate properly , restart the system. Before restarting the system, try the system feature again to confirm whether there def initely is a problem or not. System Restart causes the follo wing.
2-34 Installation 2.23 System Data Clear When the system does not operate properly after restarting, you can clear the programming data stored in the system. The system will restart with the def ault settings. First, try system program [999] “System Data Clear” by follo wing step 4 in 2.

One of 6 messages can be programmed as desired, which are av ailable for any telephone (single line telephone or proprietary telephone).
F eatur es 3-3 3 F eatures A Account Code Entry An account code is used to identify incoming and outgoing outside calls for accounting and billing purposes. The account code is appended to the SMDR call record. F or incoming outside calls, an account code is optional.

When an e xtension user dials an Automatic Line Access number before a telephone number , an av ailable exchange line from the assigned lines in program [419] is seized automatically .

Every e xtension is programmed to belong to one of 5 classes of service (COS). Each COS is programmed to hav e a call barring class for day mode, night mode and lunch mode.

F eatur es 3-15 3 F eatures C Calling P arty Control (CPC) Signal Detection The Calling Party Control (CPC) signal is a disconnect signal sent from the Local Exchange for an outside call. The CPC signal detection is acti v ated by programs [420] and [421].
3-16 F eatur es C 3 F eatures Call P ark Allo ws an extension user to place a held call into a system parking area. Any e xtension user can retrie ve the parked call to perform other operations.

The user can answer the second call by disconnecting the first call or placing it on hold. When Call W aiting is enabled, a Call W aiting tone is sent to the user under the follo wing conditions.

F eatur es 3-21 3 F eatures C-D Conference (5-party) Allo ws an extension user to establish a 5-party conference when “5 party C-2 E-5” is selected in program [116]. • Up to 2 external parties can participate in a conference call. • All 5 parties can be extensions.
Enables an incoming outside call to go directly to a specified e xtension. This e xchange line can be used by multiple extension users to mak e a call, but can only be used by one extension to recei ve a call. DIL can ha ve a dif ferent destination in the day , night and/or lunch modes.

F eatur es 3-25 3 F eatures D Busy tone An exchange line call is made. The caller reaches the DISA line. A number is dialled. One short beep Nothing is dialled. The call is sent to the fax extension. Is Intercept Routing employed? The call is sent to another extension.
3-26 F eatur es D 3 F eatures *1: The DISA Delayed timer starts. This is the time between a call reaching the system and being recei ved. The time is assigned in program [504]. *2: When the assigned time period in program [519] expires, the system sends a short beep to the caller .

The destination telephone(s) will ring for the time programmed in [508]. *10: In this case, the system does not accept a line access code. If nothing is recorded in OGM2 or OGM2 is used for another caller , the caller will hear a busy tone and the call is disconnected.
3-28 F eatur es D 3 F eatures Distinctive Dial T ones An extension user will hear 3 types of dial tone patterns which gi ve information about the features acti vated on the telephone. Dial T one 1: This is a normal dial tone. None of the features listed in Dial T one 2 are acti vated.
F eatur es 3-29 3 F eatures D Do Not Disturb (DND) <Do Not Disturb (DND)> Allo ws an extension user to prev ent other parties from disturbing them.
3-30 F eatur es D 3 F eatures Doorphone Call Up to 4 Doorphones (KX-T30865) can be installed. If a visitor presses the doorphone button, a pre-assigned e xtension user in programs [700]-[702] can answer the call and talk to the visitor . Any extension user can call a doorphone.
F eatur es 3-31 3 F eatures D DSS Console The Direct Station Selection (DSS) Console provides direct access to e xtensions, a busy lamp display , as well as 16 PF (Programmable Feature) buttons. The DSS Console must be programmed to work with a proprietary telephone (PT).
3-32 F eatur es E 3 F eatures Exchange Line Ringing Selection When an outside call is recei ved at an extension, the user can select whether their e xtension will ring or not.

F eatur es 3-35 3 F eatures E Extension Group The system supports 8 extension groups. In an e xtension group, the following features can be acti vated. • Group Call Pickup: Any member of an extension group can pick up a call directed to another member in the same group.
3-36 F eatur es E 3 F eatures If a called extension is b usy , Extension Hunting redirects the incoming call to an idle extension in an e xtension group in numerical order . Idle extensions are automatically hunted according to programming. The follo wing 2 hunting types are av ailable.
F eatur es 3-37 3 F eatures E • The Remote Extension Lock Control ov errides the Electronic Extension Lockout. If the operator or manager sets Remote Extension Lock on an extension that has already been locked by the e xtension user, the user cannot unlock it.
3-38 F eatur es E 3 F eatures External F eature Access Allo ws an extension user to access special features (e.g. Call W aiting) of fered by the Local Exchange or host PBX. This is done by placing the current call on hold and sending a recall signal using either the RECALL button or the feature number .
F eatur es 3-39 3 F eatures F A proprietary telephone (PT) user can change the flexible b uttons on the telephone and DSS console to certain function buttons. F or example, if the telephone has more line ke ys than av ailable exchange lines, the unused line k eys may be changed to One-T ouch Dialling buttons, etc.
3-40 F eatur es H 3 F eatures Hold <Call Hold> Allo ws an extension user to place an intercom and/or outside call on hold. The held call can be retrie ved by the user who held it, or by any other e xtension (Call Hold Retrie ve). W ith a single line telephone (SL T), either one outside or intercom call can be held at one time.
F eatur es 3-41 3 F eatures H • Only one intercom call can be placed on hold. For a proprietary telephone, outside calls and one intercom call can be placed on hold at the same time. • If a held call is not retrie ved within the assigned time in program [200], the extension user who held it will hear a ring tone or an alarm tone.
3-42 F eatur es I 3 F eatures Intercom Calling Allo ws an extension user to make a call to another extension. • An extension number and a name can be assigned in programs [009] and [604]. If assigned, they will be sho wn on the display proprietary telephone during an intercom call.
F eatur es 3-43 3 F eatures L Language Selection The selected language in program [615] is sho wn on the LCD display of a proprietary telephone during operation and Proprietary T elephone Settings, but not used during System Programming. The selected language in program [806] is used for an SMDR printout.

F eatur es 3-45 3 F eatures M Microphone Mute Allo ws a proprietary telephone user to turn off the microphone for pri vacy . • The user’ s voice will only be muted during a handsfree con versation. The user can hear the other party’ s voice during Microphone Mute.
Music on Hold / Background Music (BGM) While an external party is on hold, music is automatically generated. • Operations such as Call Hold and Call T ransfer activ ate Music on Hold. • A user-supplied e xternal music source, such as a radio, must be connected to the system when “External” is selected in program [111].
F eatur es 3-47 3 F eatures O Operator Call Allo ws an extension user to call an operator within the system by dialling the feature number assigned in program [121]. One extension can be assigned as the operator in program [008]. • If an operator is not assigned, this feature is not av ailable and a reorder tone will be heard.
Allo ws the extension assigned as an operator or manager to record up to 2 outgoing voice messages (maximum 30 seconds each). This message is played when a caller accesses the DISA or UCD feature. An optional OGM/F AX Detection Card is required to program the OGM.

F eatur es 3-53 3 F eatures P Allo ws an extension user to make a v oice announcement to several people at the same time. The message is announced ov er the built-in speakers of proprietary telephones and/or the external pager . The paged person can answer the page (Answering a P age) from any extension within the system.
3-54 F eatur es P 3 F eatures Any analogue proprietary telephone can be connected in parallel with a single line de vice, such as a single line telephone, facsimile and data terminal.
F eatur es 3-55 3 F eatures P P olarity Rev erse Detection The circuit in the system can detect an exchange line polarity re verse signal from the Local Exchange when trying to make an outside call. This detects the start (a called party goes of f-hook) and end (the called party goes on-hook) of an outgoing outside call.
During a po wer failure, specific e xtension telephones are automatically connected to specific exchange lines. This provides exchange line con versations between the follo wing extensions and exchange lines. Exchange line 1 : extension port 01 Exchange line 4 : extension port 09 A single line telephone (SL T) can work in case of a power f ailure.
