Introduction 21 IOLAN Featu res IOLAN Features The IOLAN is a communications server used for ma king serial network co nnections. It attaches to your TCP/IP network and allows serial devices such as modems, terminals, or printers to access the LAN. It also allows LAN devices to access devices or equipment attached to IOLAN serial ports.
Introduction 22 IOLAN Featu res Note 1: Not supported on STS8-D. Note 2: Optional power supply . Sof tware This section describes the suppor ted software features available.
Introduction 23 IOLAN Featu res Security The IOLAN security features can include (depend ing on your IOLAN m odel): z Supervisory and serial port passwo rd protection. z Ability to set serial port access rights. z Ability to assign users access level rights to control their access.
