1 About Caller Identification (Caller ID) This product has a Caller ID with Call W aiting feature that w orks with ser vice available from y our local phone ser vice provider . Caller ID with Call W aiting lets you see who’ s calling before y ou answ er the phone, ev en when you’ re on another call.
2 About Home Area Code and Local Area Codes Alwa ys program y our home area code, and, if you need them, up to four local area codes (see “Set Home Area Code” and “Set Local Area Codes” on pages 11 and 12).
3 INST ALLA TION Batter y Installation This telephone requires f our AA batter ies (not included) in order f or the Caller ID with Call W aiting, Memor y , and New Call light to wor k. For best results use alkaline or heavy duty batteries 1 Press on the tab to remov e the batter y compar tment cover .
4 T elephone Installation Wall Installation 1 Plug one end of the line cord into the telephone line jack. INST ALLA TION 2 Feed the line cord into the c hannel and wind it around and out of the mounting area as shown. 3 Connect the other end to a telephone jack not controlled by a s witch.
5 INST ALLA TION T able/Desk Installation 1 Reposition mounting adapter on the base to table/desk position. a) Remove mounting adapter fr om the base by pressing down with your thumbs as indicated by the arrows. c) Replace mounting adapter on base by aligning it as shown and pushing up with your thumbs as indicated by the arrows.
6 INST ALLA TION Modular telephone wall jack 2 Plug one end of the line cord into the telephone line jack. 3 Feed the line cord thr ough the channel as shown (so the phone will sit f lat).
For T able/Desk and Wall Installation Coiled cord 7 INST ALLA TION 1 Plug the coiled cord into the jack on the base. Plug the other end into the handset, then hang up. 2 Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. If you can’t hear a dial tone, see IN CASE OF DIFFICUL TY .

Language Selection Y ou can select English, Spanish or Frenc h as the language in which y our Caller ID information is display ed.
11 Set Home Area Code Y our own area code is the area code associated with your phone number . Y ou need to program a Home Area Code so your phone can properl y recognize and dial calls.
Set Local Area Codes Local Area Codes are area codes associated with other phone numbers for which y ou must dial the area code, but do not dial “1”. This includes your own area code if y ou must dial the area code but no “1” to make calls in your own ar ea code.
13 FEA TURE SETTINGS Display Screen Options Y ou can customize how the features of this product w ork. 1 Press and release N until the screen displays the option you want to set. 2 Press + or - until the screen displa ys your selection. 3 Press N . This sets your selection and automaticall y moves y ou to the next option.
14 FEA TURE SETTINGS Call Waiting Set for the kind of Call W aiting ser vice to which you subscribe. ON For T ype II ser vice (screen displays inf ormation a bout Call W aiting calls). OFF For T ype I ser vice (screen does not displa y information about Call W aiting calls).
15 TELEPHONE OPERA TION Redial Lift the handset, the last number dialed appears on screen. Press to call the last number dialed (up to 32 digits). Handset Volume Adjust volume of what you hear through the handset ( LO , MED or HI ). Making and Answering Calls T o make or answ er a call, lift the handset.
16 TELEPHONE OPERA TION RINGER Volume Adjust how loudly the phone rings. If the RINGER switc h is set to OFF , this phone will not ring when you hav e an incoming call.
17 TELEPHONE OPERA TION Flash/Call Waiting When you receiv e a call waiting signal, press F to put your current call on “hold” and connect to the new call. Press F again to return to the fir st call. Also use F to activate other phone company subscriber ser vices such as 3-W ay Calling.
18 TELEPHONE MEMOR Y This telephone can store 13 telephone numbers, each up to 24 digits long. Y ou can dial number s stored in memor y b y pressing one or two buttons. NOTE: Numbers stor ed in memory will be lost if the phone is unplugged fr om the line jack and ther e ar e no char ged batteries installed for mor e than 2.
Storing Memory Numbers 1 Lift the handset. 2 Press and release p . 3 Dial the telephone number (up to 24 digits) — OR — Press to store the last number dialed from this phone.
20 About Caller Identification When the first call is received, the unit sets the cur rent time and date automatically (y ou cannot set them), and resets them eac h time a new call comes in.
21 CALLER ID OPERA TION Reviewing Call History The screen displays call information for about 30 seconds after it has been received. 1 Press - to review the most recent call. — OR — Press + to review the oldest call. 2 Press + or - to scroll through call histor y .
22 Storing a Call Record into Memor y 1 Press + or - to display the call recor d you wish to store in memory . 2 Press P . 3 For one-touc h dialing, press and r elease the memor y button where you wan.
23 Display Screen Messages Screen Displays: When: PRIVATE NAME The other party is blocking name inf or mation. PPP The other party is blocking number inf or mation. PRIVATE CALLER The other party is blocking name and number information. UNKNOWN NAME Y our phone company is unable to receive information about this caller’ s name.
