4. Device Controls Your Android device provid es several different way s for you to control A T&T Navigator and input informati on. The table below ex plains the phone controls most co mmonly referen ced. Please ref er to the user's gui de for your specific model.
5. Getting S tarted with A T&T Navigator The AT&T Navigator a pplication that resi des within your device require s an AT&T subscription and means of accessing the pub lic Internet. Thi s allows the appl ication to access its servers for mappin g, routing, and sea rch services from your device.
4. During your first use of AT& T Navigator, the phone will download the audible and graphical co ntent needed to b uild the displays an d produce audibl e messages.
Search The Search box at the top o f most of the applicatio n scree ns lets you conveniently key in an a ddress or business name or category. For ex ample, you can type in “coffee” or a specific address to d rive to. Sp eak It Use the voice comma nd feature by cho osing the Microp hone icon at the b ottom toolbar.
8. Using a Bluetooth Headset You can use a Blueto oth headset with AT&T Navigat or for feat ures such as Drive To navigation instru ctions, or to spea k in an address. To do so, you must first pair your Bluet ooth headset from the Android menu. The follo wing instru ctions are for a Samsung Gal axy device; your Bluetooth men u options may vary.
Map Menu Options The follow gra phic explain s the interactions on th e Map screen from the Map s & Traffic menu. To g et a map for a different area, type an address in the Search box at th e top of the screen o r Choose Menu >> Change Locatio n and tap on a button for Home, Work, Favorites, Places , Recent, Address, Contacts or Airport.
Display T raffic & S peed Cameras In the Maps menu, you can check traffi c conditions an d any speed camera s around a cert ain area. 1. Choose Maps on the toolbar. The m ap of your location appears. 2. Choose Layers >> Tra ffic to show or hide traffic display and Layers >> Speed Cameras to show or hide cameras.
1. From the “Map” option for Favorite s and Recent Places i n the Drive To menu. For example, from t he toolbar, select Drive To >> Favorit es >> press and h old a location to call u p the Menu >> Map.
2. From the “Map” option for any lo cation that you hav e found using the P laces search. For example, from the to olbar, select Places. Search t he cat egories fo r your desire d location, and t hen select the Map option on the lo cation’s Detail s page.
Recent – You can get directi ons to a Recent Place that you fo und in a Places search or located with other Drive To optio ns. Addresses sent to your phon e for use by Navigator are also stored here. Th e entries here are listed chronologically, wit h the most recent showing first.
Set Up Home This option lets you save a Home address so yo u can easily select it f or use in the future. Once you have set this up, you can Edit your Home address by doing a press-and-hold on th e Home button. Set Up Work This option lets you save a Work address so you can easily select it for use in the future.
You have the followi ng option s in the Favorites screen: Sy nc w ith Website – Pull in addresses t hat you saved in the AT&T Navigator website at http://www.attnav.com . User-Created Categories – These are folde rs that you can create when you save or edit a favorite.
Category This option allows you to o rganize where a lo cation sho uld be stored. 1. In Drive To >> Favorites, press an d ho ld an individual Fa vorite from the list. 2. In the Menu that appears, choose Edit. The Edit Favorite screen appears . 3.
Create New Category 1. In Drive To >> My Favorites, pres s and hold an i ndividual Favorite f rom the list. 2. In the Menu that appears, choose Edit. The Edit Favorite screen appears . 3. Under “Categori ze Favorit e,” choose “New Catego ry.
1. Choose Drive To >> Favorites. 2. Press and hold the cat egory that you want to edit or delete. In the Menu that appears, you can choose Edit to rename a categ ory, or Delete. NOTE: Deleting a Category folder also deletes all the Favori tes stored in it.
Places You can get to the Pla ces screen from the Maps, Drive To, or Ext ras screens by tapping the Place s button in the bottom toolbar. To search for businesses from this screen, tap any cat egory button such as ATM, Food/Coffee, Gas, Grocery, or Lodging, or type a b usiness or category name in th e top Search field.
Recent Recent Places are addresse s used rece nt ly for navigati on or Places se arches. When an address i n the list is used within AT&T Navigator, it is promoted to the head of the list . AT&T Navigator automatically save s all of the place s that you: Chose for navigatio n.
Address You can enter an add ress by typing into th e one-box Search fi eld at the top of most AT&T Navigator screens, or by tappi ng the Microphone i con at the bottom toolbar and speaking the address (se e page 12 for more information on speech input ).
Airports Quickly find airports by Ai rport Code or City Name. The airport s closest to you r current locatio n are displayed for y our convenience. The airport is automati cally saved to your Recent places list. 1. From the Drive To screen, tap the Airpo rt button.
2. Use the Places option on t he bottom toolba r and search for a b usiness or Point of Interest (P OI). In the Details screen for th e business, choo se the green ad dress button to get driving direction s. 3. Type an address, business, or category name int o the One-Box Search field at the top of m ost AT&T Navigator screen s.
T rip Con firmation Screen Moments after you select a Drive To location, the Trip Confirmation screen appears. AT&T Navigat or calculates the optimal route(s) to your desti nation, offering up to three route alternative s for your trip.
Edit Route S ettings This option lets you edit yo ur route style in t he following ways: F astest – This default Route Style finds the fastest d riving route. Shortest – This Route Style may or may not take mo re time to drive but it sho ws you the shorte st distance.
Audible Guidance Du ring Navigation The lead times fo r the audible guid ance are increased proportionally to your driving sp eed. This allows more ti me for changing l anes befor e a turn if you are driving at hi ghway speeds as opposed t o driving more slowly on local streets.
3D Moving Map A 3-dimensional ma p with turn icons (defau lt). This view allows you to see how the road ahead is orga nized, similar to the perspective of a bird flying above the ro ute. You can see t he route to your destination as a blu e overlay on o ne of the roads with white triangle s leading you in the correct directio n.
In 2D and 3D moving ma ps, you can zoom in or out while n avigating by pinching th e screen or by using th e “+” and “-“ buttons on the screen.
On-Screen Navigation Icons The following t able explains some of the ic ons that you may see during a navigatio n session wh en viewing a 2 D or 3D Map.
Navigation T oolbar Options Tap the navigation scre en to call up the bottom to olbar and other navigation option s. These are descri bed in the section s below. When you arrive at you r destination, press the Back button. The navigation screen will also automatical ly exit after a period of inactivity.
Route Tap on the navigatio n screen to call up the toolbar and then choose Route fo r the following options. Turns This screen sho ws a text listing of every turn for t his navigation se ssion from your starting location to your destination, along with m ini turn icons.
Traffic This screen shows you any delays f rom tr affic, a summary of in cidents on the route, and the averag e speed for each segment wh ere available. You can tap on any line to view more details . NOTE: Thi s screen can al so be accessed by tappi ng the Traffic icon on the navigation sc reen.
If you tap an incident lin e, you can view the detail s. Below is an expl anation of what you will see on t he Traffic Detail screen: D istance – The total dist ance of the road segm ent is displayed immediately below the road name.
Avoiding Traffic from Traf fic Summary While you are in a n avigation session, you can choose to re -route starting from the Traffic Summary screen to avoid traffic congesti on. 1. During navigation, tap on t he screen and choose the Traffic i con . 2.
Avoiding Traffic from Traf fic Aler t When you hear an a udio warning about a traffic inci dent during your navigation sessio n, you can re-route dire ctly from this screen t o avoid congestion ah ead. 1. During navigation, an a udio warn ing sounds to ale rt you to traffic incidents alon g your route.
Map The entire rout e from your st arting location to you r destination is drawn on a map. The route is displ ayed as a blue li ne connecting the St art and Finish fla gs. Use a pinching motion to zoom in and out of the map. Slide your finger along the ma p to pan.
The results screen d isplays either the num ber of miles from your curre nt location (if you chose Up Ahead), or the number of miles from your destination (if you chose Near Desti nation). Select a re staurant from the S earch Along list to get driving directions f rom your current locati on to the restaurant.
Navigation Menu Options Press the Menu key on your Android device t o call up the menu du ring a navigation sessio n for the followi ng options. End Trip End the navigation session. See “End Trip” on pa ge 42 for more information. Report Traffic Camera Traffic Camera data is generated by AT& T Navigator use rs.
11. Places Menu The Places menu provid es you with a few different ways to find the addresses and phone nu mbers of busi nesses su ch as restaurant s, hotels, a nd gas stations, and parki ng lots or ga rages. If the search succeeds, a list of busi nesses will appear.
3. A list of nearby results will be di splayed, typically showing a sponsored listing at the top of the list. For most searches, the resu lts will be ordered by “Best Match,” which is a combinati on of distan ce and rating. Yo u can also change this t o sort by “Distance” or b y “Rating.

Change Location for S earch Result s By default, searches for the business are centered on your cu rrent location. However, you can cha nge this to anothe r location that you specify. 1. In the Search Results list, choose the Current Location text box.
S ponsored Result s 1. Icons next to business n ames indicat e that more informati on is available in the Detai ls screen. 2. The Sponsored Result s (Details) screen shows busine ss details and descriptions. The ta bs you see may vary, depending on what is available for the business.
Most Popular Category You can search for t he most popul ar food/coffee place s. 1. In the Places screen, choose Fo od/Coffee and t hen Most Popular . 2. The Most Popular sea rch result s screen displ ays items that a re frequently given hig her star ratings.
3. The Search Results scre en displays with a list of gas prices sorted by pri ce. 4. Choose a gas station to go t o its Details scre en. On the Main tab, you can ta p Map to go to full map view, share the address with a friend (s ee “Share Address” on pag e 51 ), or search for n earby busines ses.
Map Results You can view your search result s plotted o n a map by choosin g the Map icon on the Search Results screen. The Map Results screen can also be accessed when you tap on the Map button on the Search Detail s screen (Main tab). Use your finger to pan th e map.
1. In the business’s Search Details screen (Main tab), choose Share at the bottom of the screen. 2. Choose a contact in “S elect from Contacts, ” or type in phone nu mbers using “Enter Phon e Numbers.” Choose Done . 3. This screen allows you to change any of the follo wing: Label – This field is optional.
Search Nearby Search for nearby busi nesses from the Place s menu. Ratings and Reviews The star rating s under ce rtain busi nesses indicat e ratings and reviews submitt ed by other users. You can also su bmit your own ratin g and review f or busi nesses.
Submit Your Own Rating and Review 1. In the Search Results screen, select a location. 2. In the Details screen, choos e the Review tab, and then choose Write a Revie w . 3. On the next screen, choose a rating from 1 to 5 st ars and enter optio nal comments.
12. Extras The Extras menu let s you search for movie listi ngs and che ck your local weather cond itions. You can also purcha se different voices f or the navigation audio announc ements (when a vailable), as well as differen t car icons for the navigation screen.
Search by Theaters On the Theater s tab, choose a the ater to view a list of av ailable movies , show times, and run times. Elap sed show times are crossed o ut in the list. Search by Movies On the Movies tab, choo se a movie to view a synopsis, and a li st of the close st theaters where the m ovie is showing.
1. Choose Extras >> Apps ta b >> My Apps >> Weather. 2. The weather condition for y our curre nt location is display ed, along with the forecast for the next six days. 3. Choose the Change Location icon to view weather for another location.
13. Menu Features Choose the Menu key on the Android device t o call up a menu for ad ditional options. The choices i n this menu vary, depen ding on the AT&T Navi gator screen you are on.
Your P IN Num ber Get your PIN number by choosing this option. A text message will be sent to you with the PIN, and it will briefly appear at the top of your AT&T Navigat or screen. After it disappears, you can open t he text message to view it again.
Settings Choose Menu >> Settings for o ptions on settin g your prefer ences and other features. Be sure to choose Save to keep any ch anges you ha ve made. You can also access t his menu fro m Extras >> Settings. Profile In Menu >> Settings >> Profile, you can edit the following: First/Last Name – Edit your name here.
Navigation In Menu >> Settings >> Navigation, you can edit t he following: Route Settings – Fastest, Sho rtest, Avoid Highway, or Pede strian. By default, all routes are “Fastest” to m inimize traffi c delays. You can al so choose to avoi d traffic and toll s, or use carpool lanes along y our trip.
Audio In Menu >> Settings >> Audio, you can e dit the following: Audio Guidance – Directions & Traffic, Directions Only, Tr affic Only, or None. “D ir ections Only” lets you listen to turn-by -turn directions, but without any traffic inf ormation.
14. Suspending A T&T Navigator Making a Phone Call from A T&T Navigator You can Call In to a locatio n that you have foun d in a Search such as a restaurant, a hotel, or a store. Whe n available, tap the phone n umber in the Sea rch Details screen for a busine ss.
If you answer the call, AT&T Navigator will be oper ating but “suspended.” After the call, press the Back button t o end the call. At this p oint, AT&T Navigator shoul d resume from its suspended stat e. If you are navigating and h ave gotten off the route, AT&T Navigat or will say “Rerouting” and obtain a new rout e for you.

Why do I need a PIN number? You may need a four-di git PIN to log in to AT&T Navigator for the very first time. It is uni que to your account and identifies that your account is active. How do I find my PIN number? Your PIN can be fo und in the About menu.
How do I know that my device is receiv ing GPS signals? AT&T Navigator alerts y ou if your device is not receivi ng GPS si gnals. If this happen s, move to an area wh ere there is a clear view of the sky so your dev ice can receive GPS signals f rom space.
How do I reinstall the application on my phone? You can go to the An droid Marketpla ce in order to obt ain the late st build for AT&T Navi gator. How do I delete my list of “Recent” list? You may remo ve multiple address es by logg ing into your AT &T Navigator acc ount online at http://www.
