When a device has a problem - such as a critical error that requires a reboot - debug messages can be sent through its CO M port.

53 Chapter 6 Out of Band Operation Overview In case the network goes down, or the SN0108 / SN0116 cannot be accessed with the usual browser based method for some other reason, the SN0108 / SN0116 can be reached via several additional Out of Band (OOB) methods.

Devices connected to this virtual port ap pear as if they were connected to a COM port on the local comp uter. Data transmission between the device and the local computer takes place over the vi rtual COM port to the SN 0108 / SN0116.
