2 Chapter 2 Prep arations & Inst allation Physical Inst allation Requirement This chapter illustrates ba si c installation of VIP-462DG • Network cables. Use standard 10/1 00Ba seT network (UTP) cables with RJ45 connectors. • TCP/IP protocol must be installed on all PCs.
Please locate your PC in the same network segment (192.168.0.x) of VIP-462DG. If you’re not familiar with TCP/IP, please refer to related chapter on user’s manual CD or consult your network administrator for proper network configurations.

3 Chapter 3 Network Service Configurations Configuring and monitoring your VIP-462DG from web browser The VIP-462DG integrates a web-base d grap hical user interface that can cover most configurations and machine st atu s monitoring. 4 Chapter 4 General Configurations System Settings This page include s all the basic configuration tool s for the product, such as options to control management access. Time Zone Set the proper time zone and the config ure time serv er for the VIP-462DG .
19 Remote Management The "Remote Management" feature can rest rict remote user login from the W AN port. The IP setting of "0.0.0.0" allows user from any IP address to remote logged in to the device. When the 'Enabled" is no t checked, remote login is di sabled.
20 Dynamic IP Under this mode, VIP-462 DG enables DHCP client to get IP address automatically from your service provider . The Host Name is optional, but may be required by some Service Provider’s. The default MAC address is set to the WAN’ s physical interface on the VIP-462DG .
21 Static IP If your service provider has assig ned a fixed IP address, enter the assigned IP address, subnet mask and the gateway address provide d. DNS Most service providers pro vide a DNS server for spe ed and convenien ce. If there is a DNS server that you would rather use, you need to specify the IP address here.
22 LAN Settings The VIP-462DG needs to have an IP address of the local net work. Y ou can enable DHCP to dynamically allocate IP addresse s to your client PC s. When DHCP serve r is enabled, you need to enter the IP addre s s range for the local host s.
23 Channel and SSID This page allows you to define SSID, T ransmis sion Rate, Basic Rate and Channel ID for wireless connection. In the wireless envi ronment, VIP-462DG c an also act as a wirele ss access point. These parameters are used for the mobile st at ions to connect to this access point.
WP A WP A is a security enhan ce ment that strongly increa ses the level of data protection and a ccess control for existing wireless LAN. Matchin g aut hentication and encryption methods must be setu p on your VIP-462DG and wireless client device s to use WP A.
5 Chapter 5 System Configurations V oIP Settings The section includes the entire V oIP configuration for VIP-462DG . Port Setting This page set s up the phone number an d use rname/p assword for SIP server registration. The phone number and username/p assword must be predefined in SIP Proxy .
26 SIP Setting This page d efines the SIP paramete rs, in the SIP Pa rameters setting, we need t o set SIP domain an d SIP Proxy IP address. The default register expire time is 1800 seco nd. So the system must reregister to SIP proxy again within regi ster expi re time.
27 Port advanced Setting and register DECT handset This page allows you adju st the parameter of voice c hannel to ach ieve better sound quality . In this page also provide DECT setting for you to paging and regi ster new DECT han dset.

29 Traffic Statistics This page sh ows the W A N outbound traf fic st atistics of all of the Dif fserv forwarding groups in the last 12 hours (automatically up dated every 5 mins).
30 Address Mapping VIP-462DG supports multi ple global IP addresses. It allows IP addresses used in a private local network to be mapped to one or more addresse s used in the public, global Internet. This page allows user to enter up to 10 ad dresses mapping between a set of private IP addresses an d one global IP address.

32 Special Application Some applications requi re multiple connections, such as Internet gaming, video conferencing, Internet telephony and others. These applications ca nnot wo rk when Network Address T ranslation (NA T) is enabled.
33 Firewall Setting VIP-462DG provides extensive firewall protection by re stricting connection parameters to limit the risk of hacker att ack, and defending against a wide a rray of common attacks.
This page allows users to define service limit ation of client PC, including IP address, service type and scheduling rule criteria. For URL blocking function, you need config URL address first in "URL Blocki ng Site" page. For schedulin g function, you also need co nfig schedule rule first in "Schedule Rul e" p age.
35 MAC Filter User can enter up to 32 MAC address, the PCs with these MAC ad dresses will not be permitted to access Internet. URL Blocking Y ou can block access to certain Web sites from a p art icular PC by entering either a full URL a ddre ss or just a keyword of the Web site.
As shown above, all of the URL with ”violence” p a ttern cannot be accessed. The users within LAN site cannot access to any web-site with “violence” in its URL ad dress. User can enter up to 32 MAC ad dress, the PCs with these MAC ad dresses will not be permitted to access Internet.
As shown above, we defined a schedule rule called “O ff ice Hour”, the active time period is Monday to Friday , 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. After pressing “O K” button, the following page will show up.

41 Reset In the event that the system stops respondi ng correctly or in some way stops functio ning, you can perform a reset. Y our settings will not be changed. T o perform the reset, click on the “APPL Y” button below . Y ou will be asked to confirm your decision.
42 Device Status The Device S t atus page di splays the current setting of this device, includin g IP address, Subnet mask, DHCP se rve r , Firewall and UPnP . Security Log This page pr ovides the system security log reco rd when device boot, includin g user login/logout, hack attach, PPPoE connection, NTP connection, Get IP from DHCP .
43 VoIP Status This page displays the gat eway status, including Po rt type, port S tatus, time information of each call and Destination. This p age also displays SIP proxy registration st atus. User must make sure SIP proxy registration is suc cessful.
