Chapter 2 - Hardware Inst allation 2-4 Mounting the MGC-100 on a 23” Rack The MGC-100 can be mounted to a 23” rack using the two mou nting plates that are pr e-insta lled on t he unit. 1. Make sure that the MCU i s turned OFF and it is di sconnected from the AC or DC power .

Mounting the MGC-100 on a 19” Rack The MGC-100 can b e mounted in a 19” rack using the mounting ki t (P/N- KIT2026A).

The MPI box may be mounted on top of th e MGC-100 usin g mounting brackets , or on a separate 19” or 23” r ack, as can be seen in Figure 2 -8.

Push the MPI-4/8 Network Interface mo dule firmly into the Ba ckplane, making su re it is prope rly seated in it s slot.

Connect the oth er end of the cabl e to B (Por ts 5-8) 160- pin connector of the MPI Box. By doing this procedure we have ut ilized the MPI Box as a MPI-8.

Chapter 4 - Hardware Description 4-2 MGC-10 0 Compon en t s Loca tion Figure 4-1 shows the fr ont panel of the MGC-100. The front pane l provides access to t he Main Control M odule, the Func tional M odules, and the Power Supply M odules.

Chapter 4 - Hardware Description 4-10 Main Contro l Module The Main Control M odule performs th e functions o f conference set up, conference teard own, and resource allocat ion in both the MGC-100 and the MGC-50. The Main Control Modu le has an I ntel-based Pe ntium processor , a hard disk dr ive and 256 M B of memory .
MGC Hardware and Installation Manual 4-11 The Main Control Mo dule includes several connectors. These a re connected to ports on the chassis. T wo types of conn ectors on th e rear panel provide connections from the MGC t o various external systems.

MGC Hardware and Installation Manual 4-21 Power Module in the MGC-50 In the MGC-50, the Power S upply Module is not hot swappable. Th e power supply aut omatically senses t he AC input vo ltage. The capacit ies of the power suppl y module are shown in T able 4-2, “MGC-50 Power supply mod ule capacit y”.
