8 EXTENSION CORD SELECTION If an extension cord is used, make sur e the conductor size is lar ge enough to prevent excessive voltage dr op which will cause loss of power and possible motor damage. A table of recommended extension cor d sizes will be found in this section.
9 V ACUUM HOSE A standard 1" vacuum hose can be attached to the dust port to connect the tool to a vacuum cleaner or dust collection system (Fig.1). TEMPLET GUIDES The templet guide insert is included with the router for use with optional templet guides.

11 SELECTING THE BIT Model 8529 accommodates bits with 1 / 4 " and 1 / 2 " diameter shanks. A collet is also available for bits with 3 / 8 " diameter shanks. USE ROUTER BITS with a lar ger diameter than 2 1 / 2 " ONL Y when speed control is set between 10,000 and 13,000 RPM.
12 6. Tighten collet nut (D) Fig. 10 with wrench pr ovided. 7. T o remove bit, loosen collet nut. If bit does not remove easily , continue to loosen the collet nut until the nut forces the collet retaining ring to lift and fr ee collet. 8. Reinstall the chip deflector .
13 MICRO PLUNGE ADJUSTMENT T wo separate uses for the micro plunge adjustment featur e ar e: 1. Hand held plunge router . In this application, set the depth that the router will plunge. After making a test cut, increase or decr ease the depth of plunge in very precise incr ements.
14 7. Release the r outer . 8 . Hold the micro-plunge adjusting knob (E) Fig. 15 while turning the micro-plunge adjusting ring (F) Fig. 15 until the “0” lines up with refer ence mark (A) Fig. 15 on the motor housing. For every complete turn of the micro-plunge adjust-ing knob, the motor moves up or down 1 / 8 ".
15 ADJUSTING PLUNGE LOCKING LEVER The plunge locking mechanism may be adjusted to compensate for wear , or to reposition lever (in locked position). T o adjust: DISCONNECT TOOL FROM POWER SOURCE . 1. Lock the plunge locking lever , (A) Fig. 17, by moving it to the operator’ s right as far as it will go.
16 USING THE OPTIONAL ABOVE-T ABLE HEIGHT ADJUSTER The Above-T able Height Adjuster is an accessory that allows the operator to raise or lower the router , mounted in a shaper table, without reaching under the table.
17 Before using your r outer , consider the kind and total amount of material to be removed. Depending on the material, more than one cut may be necessary to avoid overloading the motor .
18 KEEP TOOL CLEAN Periodically blow out all air passages with dry compressed air . All plastic parts should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. NEVER use solvents to clean plastic parts. They could possibly dissolve or otherwise damage the material. Wear ANSI Z87.

Drill a 7/16" hole her e. ROUTER HEIGHT ADJUSTER TEMPLET Remove this page fr om your manual and place it on your r outer table so that the holes (1, 2, and 3) line up with the holes in your table. Mark the place indicated. Drill a 7/16" hole at that point.
