9 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov er infl ated at the factory f or shipping pur poses . Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting perf or mance . • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in “PRODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this man ual.

12 OPERA TION CA UTION: Alwa ys stop tractor com- plete ly , as described above, before lea v- ing the operator's position; to empty grass catcher , etc. The operation of any tractor can result in f oreign objects thrown into the ey es, which can result in severe e ye dam age .
13 OPERA TION T O OPERA TE MO WER (See Fig. 10) Y our tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing s witch. Any attempt b y the operator to lea v e the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine.
14 OPERA TION T O ST ART ENGINE (See Fig. 7) When star ting the engine f or the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cranking time to mo ve fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure free wheel control is in the transmission en gaged position.

BRAKE OPERA TION If tractor requires more than six (6) f eet stopping distance at high speed in highest gear , then brake m ust be adjusted. (See “T O ADJUST BRAKE” in the Service and Ad just ments section of this manual).
18 MAINTENANCE CLEAN AIR SCREEN Air screen must be k ept free of dir t and chaff to pre vent engine dam age from ov erheating. Clean with a wire brush or compressed air to re mov e dir t and stubborn dried gum fi bers. TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.
19 MAINTENANCE MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffl er and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could create a fi re hazard and/or dam- age. SP ARK PLUGS Replace spark plugs at the beginning of each mowing season or after e very 100 hours of operation, whiche v er occurs fi rst.
