Remove the t hree cap nuts and f l at was her s on the pul ley c o v er with a 9/ 16 wrench, and rem o v e the guard t o expose t he belts and pull eys.

Roc k the cut terhead sl ight ly so that a knif e ti p contacts the strai ght edge. If the knife ti p just contact s the str a i ght edge wit hout m o v ing the strai ght edge, then t he outf eed tabl e i s at t he proper hei ght.

15 9.5 Repl acing Kn ife I nser ts (Helical Cu tterh ead) Joi nter knif e insert s are very sharp . Use care and pro ceed slow ly when wo rking with or around the cu t terhead. The hel ical cu tt erhead i s a soli d s teel design that holds 42 two- s ided k nif e inserts, and t w o rabbet knif e inserts on the out board end of the cutt erhead.
16 9.6 Fence A d ju stmen t s The f ence (A, Fi gure 22) t ilts backward and f orward to 45 degrees. I t has a 90-degree stop (B, Figure 22) and a 45-degre e s top ( C, Fi gure 22). To tilt fe nce forwa rd: 1. Loosen t he lock handl e (D, Figur e 22) and til t the fenc e f orward us i ng the handle ( E, Fi gure 22).
17 To ch eck and adjust th e 45- d e gree stop : 1. Loosen l ock handl e (D, F igure 22) and til t f ence until it c ont acts the 45-degree stop (C, Fi gure 22). 2. Pl ace a machi nist’s protrac tor or simil ar devi ce set at 45 degr ees on the t able and against t he f ence.
