10 In stalling Switch Ar m 1. The switc h ar m was shipped i n horizont a l posit i on. Loosen and rem o v e the f our socket head cap s c rews and f lat w asher s on the brack et of the sw i tch ar m (Fi gure 3) with a 5mm hex wrench. Hold on t o the switc h arm whil e doing thi s, to prev ent the arm f rom fa llin g .
11 The cut terhead guar d shoul d now hav e suffi cient spri ng tension. Test it by swingi ng the guard away f ro m the fence and then r el easing it. Th e guard mu st always have eno ug h spring tens.
12 Use onl y three wir e ext ens i on cord s t hat hav e three- prong groundi ng plugs and three-p ole recept acles that accept the tool ’s pl ug. Repair or repl ace a da m aged or worn cord im m e di at el y . Make sure t he v oltage of y our power suppl y m a tc hes t he s pec ifi ca ti ons on t he m o t or plate of the Joi nter.
13 If you are har d-wiri ng the J oint er, make sure t he f uses hav e been removed or the breakers hav e been tri pped i n the ci rcu it to which t he Joint er w ill be c onnected, and place a w arni ng placar d on the f use hol der or c ircuit breaker t o prev ent it being t urned on until wir i ng i s complet e.

Driv e Belt Replacem ent 1. Uns c rew the kno b (A, F igure 11) and rem o v e the belt guard ( B , Fi gure 11).
15 3. Ti ghten locki ng handl e (B, Fi gur e 14) . To til t f ence b ackw ard: The f ence can be t ilted bac kward up to 45° ( that is, f or a t o t al angle of 135° f ro m table sur f ace) . 1. Loosen l ocki ng handle ( B, Fi gure 16). 2. F lip t he 90° stop block ( E, F i gure 16) out o f the way.
16 4. Rotat e the screw (H, Fi gure 17) until i t contac ts the casti ng i n f ront of it. 5. Ti ghten the hex nut on the scre w (H, Figur e 17) and ti ghten locki ng hand l e (B, Figur e 16).

The outf eed table has now been l ocked at a standard hei ght, l e v el wit h t he arc o f t he kni v es.
21 10. Pl ace the al u mi nu m knife gauge at the f ront of t he outfeed t ab l e (toward the r abbet ledge) and repeat t he pr oc ess. 11. T his test shoul d be perf ormed on al l t hree kniv es in the cutterhead, us i ng the pr o v ided gauge.
22 21. The ti ghtening pr oces s s h ould c ontinue at least tw o m ore tim es, each tim e t i ghtening the gi b screw s f urther on a l l three kniv es i n turn . On the third time, the gib s cre ws should al l be firmly tight ened. Be fore ope rating t he joi nter , make sure al l gib screws are firml y tig htene d.
